  1. On today's American Airlines 1Q Earnings Call the management repeatedly singled out the CLT hub as one that they will be growing as they gain more gates. So expect more new flight announcements as AA exapnds into Concourse A and in Concourse E.
  2. You can hear the construction workers even at 10pm. This thing is on the move!
  3. As an NC State alum I know I'll be confusing this with Jimmy V's in Raleigh.
  4. CCCP comes out with their annual report every April which contains residential numbers for the areas of their MSD. Their MSD covers inside 277, South End, Midtown, and West End. In last years report it listed residential population as 27,000. So 30,000 for this year is in line with what would be expected.
  5. Found this presentation that should have all the answers you are looking for (and more): http://www.cltairport.com/AboutCLT/Documents/Stormwater Pollution Prevention Training 2017.pdf There is 62,000,000 sq ft of impervious surfaces at the airport so it does take quite a system to handle all of that runoff. 25 different outfalls going into 4 different creeks. On top of that they have a constant monitoring program to make sure nothing illegal goes down the storm water drain (such as the dreaded blue sewage from all the airplanes).
  6. Yes, there has been quite a bit of study on traffic calming for Parkwood the past couple of years. The City Council has approved the plan and design has started. You can get more details here: http://charlottenc.gov/Projects/Pages/ParkwoodPlazaStudy.aspx
  7. City Council approved their rezoning request which will allow them to cantilever the hotel 10 ft over the 22 ft setback on Stonewall. The cantilever will begin 20 ft above the sidewalk. In other words, the base of the building will have a 22 ft setback and then starting at 20 ft elevation it will have a 12 ft setback.
  8. Has anyone been able to successfully find this project in Acela to confirm this is actually moving forward in the permitting process and not just a media campaign to buy more time? I can't find anything.
  9. I used to date the one next to the guy in red trunks and I can confirm he is indeed white.
  10. The building colors are bland but the material choice looks to be good. Where they really need to add some color are in the street level and rooftop pool renderings. I'm not sure how many people of color work at Perkins Eastman, but good grief people it's 2018 and successful non white people will be living in this apartment so put them in the damn renderings!!!!! Not a single non white person in the renderings.
  11. I like this better than the previous version of these apartments. Regardless, I agree with Scribe, its better than the ugly parking deck we have today.
  12. The Sanitary Sewer expansion project for SouthEnd goes before the City Council tonight for approval to start construction. The expansion should be complete by the end of 2019.
  13. They are going to build a temporary Greyhound station there and tear down the existing station.
  14. Option 5...keep the doors closed and anyone who arrives at the platform after the doors are closed can tap the button on the door's exterior to open that individual door. The door will remain open for about 30 seconds and then close. I have done this numerous times for trains that were waiting at 485 and at 7th St.
  15. I actually got off the train at the Sugar Creek stop last evening and walked over the pedestrian bridge (great skyline views up there) to Davidson Street. With Sugar Creek and that section of Davidson still closed to traffic it has a very desolate feel. I walked alone with no one in sight for a good 5 minutes after getting off the train. I know this will change dramatically once Sugar Creek and Davidson reopen. Walking Davidson St with the warehouses there I could see this developing similar to how New Bern stop has developed, with a mix of breweries, residential, and commercial space. In fact that has already begun with Divine Barrel, Crown Station, Bold Missy, Deejai, etc. So while Sugar Creek stop today is not popular, just like New Bern when it first opened, I believe in just a couple years this will be a popular spot with new development and refurbished warehouses. BTW if you like Thai food and watching trains on bridges I highly recommend the outdoor patio at Deejay in the evening. Has a great view of the Lynx bridge all lit with trains zooming by.
  16. He has had to pay the city the whole time to have those 2 lanes shut down...so it is more money out of his pocket to keep them closed.
  17. I stopped in on a recent Sunday Morning for some coffee and to check out all the new stores there. Very cool vibe already with the small amount of space that has been refurbished. In May they are planning on doing a farmer's market so stay tuned for more details.
  18. CLT is taking bids for the design of the Runway 18C End Around Taxiway. This will allow planes to taxi around the center parallel runway without having to stop between Concourse A North and the West Parallel Runway near 485. This will shave a few minutes off the taxi time as well as increase safety. Still about 2 years before this becomes reality, but good to see them moving forward.
  19. Maybe the 2 towers will add up to 1000 ft.
  20. Anyone know what is going on with the Common Market site on Tremont? It was supposed to have opened a good 6 months ago but I haven't seen any activity there. Hope all is well.
  21. They were still doing that last night (Sunday). Sounds like whoever the electrical contractor was for this project didn't do a good job.
  22. UNCC has wrapped their elevator doors to look like the Lynx doors. Awesome promotion of the soon to open BLE.
  23. Kudos to the construction company at the Atherton Mill project! They wrapped their construction trailer to blend in with it's surroundings.
  24. I would note that the picture you posted is new construction for American Eagle only at DFW and so a better comparison would be Concourse E at CLT.
