  1. Good eye Larry...yes, it will look like this with the extra floors...As was earlier reported this was originally going to be 10 floors, but due to demand got pushed up to 16.
  2. Well, here it is folks...the 16 story Courtside in First Ward on the corner of Caldwell and 6th. Have not seen any price points yet...but my guess is that 1 bdrm condos would start in the $130s
  3. First Ward is moving right along...within a block of me there are 3 seperate condo buildings under construction. With the 16 story Courtside building coming online any day now. Fourth Ward has a new 4 story condo and a 8 story Apartment building going up. Third Ward has the J&W Student Dorm going up. I think the condo market downtown is definately maturing from a few years ago, when there was a glut of condos on the market. Construction has slowed down from a few years ago, but I think that it is about to pick up. After Courtside...in First Ward alone there are 3 large condo projects that will likely be built in the next 3 years.
  4. I beleive they are also in line to get some Federal and/or State funding for this project...I have not heard if that has come through yet. I think that constrction is slated to begin in 2005.
  5. My understanding is that they want to integrate some of the old buildings with the new ones...This is the same developer that built the Ratcliffe Condos where they saved the old Carpe Diem restarant in the process.
  6. It goes before the Meck Co Commision next week for funding approval. The Charlotte City Council already voted unanimously to fund this project this week.
  7. I have heard that the condo's name will be "Courtside" in reference to its close proximity to the new Arena. I actually sat next to the architect for the project, David Furman, at a meeting last week. I did not get a chance to ask him about the development as he scooted out of the meeting early. However I did hear him say that something will be announced soon. Also the property is already zoned UMUD, which stands for Uptown Mixed Use District so they won't have to get a rezoning unless they need conditions added to that.
  8. Total build out will take about 10 years. Land has been cleared and construction on the Movie Theatre will begin this summer.
  9. Construction is underway on a $220M mixed use project called East Park by Grubb Ellis. This project is located just outside the 277 Loop near downtown Charlotte. It is situated on Elizabeth Ave between Presbyterian Hospital and Central Piedmont Community College. For those of you not familiar with Elizabeth Ave...it is the same road as Trade Street. The road changes names to Elizabeth roughly near the 277 bridge. Here is a map of the area. The red star denote where the project will go: Here is a picture of what the area looks like today. That is Elizabeth Ave running through the middle of the picture. At the top is Presbyterian Hospital. This project entails: -250,000 sq ft Retail -340,000 sq ft Office -810 Residential Units Here is that same view of Elizabeth Ave after the project is complete: Notice the Street Car running down Elizabeth Ave...CATS plans to have that Streetcar running from JC Smith Univ through downtown to Presbyterian Hospital. Later that line will be extended out to Eastland Mall. Here is a Street Map of the completed project: The left side is CPCC and the right side is Presbyterian Hospital. The project will keep some of the exisitng buildings...Carpe Diem restarant is there already today. Here is how it will look when integrated with the new buildings: Here are some more schematics of the development. Construction has already stated on this project. The latest retail rumor is that the Manor Theatre will move to this development from its current Myers Park location.
  10. Edited for content This is the thread to discuss projects in the NoDa neighborhood of Charlotte. NoDa is a recent name coined to describe the part of Charlotte centered around North Davidson Street and 36th Street that has historically been known as North Charlotte. --monsoon
  11. Yeah the Bass Pro Shop in Charlotte (Concord) is more back woodsy, whereas this Gaylan's will have a more urban chic feel to it.
  12. Yeah Dicks would be the Wal-Mart of the group and Gaylan's would be the Target...yeah they basically have the same stuff but the shopping experience is better at Target.
  13. Well its official, Galyan's has signed a letter of intent to build an 80,000 sq ft store on the old Sear's site at SouthPark mall in Charlotte. The new wing will be open in late 2004 and will also house the mall's new food court and some outdoor dining. This new wing will also be tied into the Symphony Park. I'm looking forward to this new store it looks like its going to be really cool. This is the store in Atlanta...the one in Charlotte will look similar to this on the inside.
  14. I think those street cars from JCSU to Eastland Mall will be very popular.
  15. RDU has a taxiway that runs over the road that takes you to the GA area and the remote lots.
  16. Here are some pics of CLT on 9/11...look at all the planes!!! Control Tower and Statue of Queen Charlotte getting blown by all the Jets in front of the terminal. Concourse E with AirForce 1 and downtown Charlotte in the background. Concourse A Concourse B Concourse C Concourse E back when it was under construction. Unfortunatly I don't have any pics of Concourse D.
  17. This will be great for Charlotte as this will be the first Whitewater Course of its type in the country. This is an aerial of where the waterpark will go. Thats the muddy Catawba River with Gaston Co on the left and Mecklenburg Co on the right, the park will be on the Mecklenburg side just north of I-85.
