I still lament the loss of tradition towers, but walking by this thing last night, one can't help but be excited for the huge impact this building will have, it's exciting seeing the current wave of buildings which I imagine will o lay serve to further ignite downtown. I know a ton of my friends (late 20s - early 30s) are dying to move downtown. I moved downtown 6 months ago after getting out of the navy and coming home, and I couldn't be happier. Keep these things coming!

Recently saw The Book of Mormon here and it was a spectacular experience! Truly a world class venue which perfectly blended into downtown making it a great night out from pre-show dinner to post show dinner cocktails. As mentioned earlier, a major issue that has yet to be fix is the bar and drinking situation. Twice my brother and I waited in a long, never moving line, only to give up and go to the show as the production was about to start. That is a lot of money being missed out on due to not being able to handle the crowds. It also was the biggest downside to the whole experience and honestly just completely unnacceptable. Also as mentioned before the sinks are just plain comical, especialyl watching several guys try to use them only to get frustrated and annoyed.
Those are two relatively small downsides though, from what was just an incredible experience!

they approved the stadium in a meeting today (well the closure of parramore to build the stadium on). i got some more pics of field and layout. looks amazing
Well please post them! :-)
And perhaps I am confused, but I was under the impression construction(or ground work at the very least) was under way.

Wow! that is some really exciting news and potential prospects! Does anyone have any links or more information about this? The possibilities are truly exciting!
The brazilian connection is truly a fantastic one.... can't wait to hear more

Orlando City Park sounds great to me! I'm getting very anxious about this happening ... I really hope we can pull it off!

I actually like the UCF's new PAC designs better
this just doesnt seem very impressive, doesn't really stand out
we shall see though, could turn out great
-
does anyone have a chance to go down there and get some pictures and find out more information?
-
it actually kind of reminds me of some of the 1960's-70's buildings at UCF
still, I hate to pass judgment till I see more renderings and what not
-
looks fairly unique, I like it, but want to wait to see more renderings to cast further judgment
-
the second one isnt bad
the first one is terrible
I think we may be quick to judge our project here though, as i feel the final look may look a bit more lively, and polished than this rendering would other wise dictate

a U.S. premiere at Universal Orlando would make sense
especially with a HUGE slice of the theme park getting converted soon, as well as major marketing ploy , whatever else harry potter that will be taking over orlando here soon
-
yea
it seems like a lot of effort is going into ensure all these projects get going
once the new city center gets going, I can really see that whole stretch of 17-92 getting a total makeover, which has already started
this will be a really neat area
-
Just as a heads up
Aquatica is set to open very soon
and Harry Potter has started going vertical at IOA universal
as well as bunch of other new changes happening at both parks....looks like the next few years will bring lots of new rides and other theme park related tourist areas
this will probably have a huge impact on Orlando as Universal has already turned things around in a big way and with some major new things in the works inside and outside the park, as well as disney stepping up trying to counter act all the happenings at Universal
cant wait to see where we are a few years from now, the whole area should be electric
-
yea
the area definitely looks like it will be amazing
There is also the other big condo project just up the road on 17-92 that I think connected to the village at lake lilly, then right across the street from that seems like another mid rise is set to go up, also hugging the street
I am a big fan of those large mid-rises filling up space and hugging the street.....cant wait to see this whole area come to full fruition
-
yea, the Village at lake lilly really just popped up out of no where
I was sure that it was just going to sit as open land for at least another year
great project thought, looks like its going to be massive
also seems like a couple other projects are making some real head way just right down the road from the village on 17-92
that whole area could turn out to be quite something
-
very exciting
this is going to have a huge impact in the area
I really cant wait to see the whole I-Drive area explode
-
yea, I've been following the Lake lily project for quite some time now, as I drive by it every day to work, and I was certainly shocked when I saw that it was actually U/C and not just moving dirt around or other things of that nature
I will try to get some pics up this week of the site

Correct. Rent is the big thing. anything that is somewhat reasonable gets snatched up quick. I was lucky to get my place at 1300 a month . The appeal of living downtown or in the urban core is there, especially for melinials.
