  1. That parking deck looks a little slanted to me. Anybody else think that?
  2. I think they will go ahead and clear it pretty quickly. Not really sure why they would wait.
  3. I could see something 20 stories with a parking deck fitting that spot perfectly! Just a far-fetched dream though.
  4. Well at least Lundy made a decision. I doubt the new owners will wait too long to do something, that's a lot to pay. They probably already have a pretty good idea what's going to be built there.
  5. Yep, I really like the N&O sketch. Looks like a new tallest pushing 35 or stories and a 20 story in the back. That would be a huge skyline changer, from every direction.
  6. You have to wonder had the group from Austin won the bid there would be at least a crane on that site now.
  7. Green_Man, I like it! That block has so much potential.
  8. I was in Wilmington on Monday and took this photo.
  9. It's April. Why does it seem to take so long to get anything built downtown? Thank you Mr. Kane for the Dillon! We've been talking about some of these same projects for years and years and they keep getting dragged out and out and out. I wanted to see some of these buildings get built before I'm dead and gone! Geez.
  10. This is going to transform that area a lot. The office tower will probably appear taller than 17-18 floors.
  11. KJHburg....thanks for the photos!
  12. I like the SECU building also. I think they will regret one day not going taller.
  13. Durham is really on the move. I like both of these buildings! Both will look good in that area. http://www.heraldsun.com/business/construction-begins-at-van-alen-mangum-developments/article_dcf312ee-f92e-11e6-b172-bb59f4face12.html
  14. Gosh has anyone heard anything about Charter North? It seems to have just died.
  15. It would be nice to see different angles of this rendering. It appears they had to build around the Saucer building, thus making the closer tower shaped differently than the other. I'm sure the money paid for the block they were trying to get their moneys worth! I'm afraid the height limits will bring more of the same down the road.
  16. The tower will be different. A North Hills-look from this angle, and warehouse-look from the other. Will look good I think, definitely a change.
  17. Yea this sucker is gonna look nice from the money shot. Can't wait to see a crane up working on this.
  18. Thanks Green_Man. Good stuff right there. Give John Kane four acres and who knows what might get built. The man is on a roll that's for sure. Glad someone has taken the lead and is getting things moving! A nice development coming into DT from the north would be fantastic.
  19. It's definitely not your typical Briggs Hardware look!
  20. Finally, this project appears ready to start in February. http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/community/durham-news/article57052953.html
  21. I think the TBJ had an article about the two buildings going at 301 Hillsborough, one residential the other office, but you have to be a subscriber to read it.
  22. I'm not sure what she is so concerned about with one story. It's funny he is spending his money and building a huge development that is helping downtown and she is dictating what he can build? Not to mention he is willing to build a parking deck with 850 spaces that will aid the city's parking shortage. Just wondering if the 17 stories will sit on top of the deck, will the deck be included in the 17 stories? A deck with that many spaces on that block will be huge won't it?
  23. You would think they could design a parking deck for that area to give it an "old warehouse look" to fit in.
  24. Green_Man, the deck in the triangle idea is pretty darn good thinking. I doubt the RRs would allow many things there, not sure who owns that land, but a nice deck would be a great use of that property! Maybe a pedestrian bridge across the tracks from the deck.
  25. I really like this project. Will look good and serves alot of purposes. I'm not sure why they changed the rendering, the second looks a little more plain, boring. I like the 18 story version better, adds a little more spice to DT Wilmington. You wonder what people have against tall buildings.
