  1. I seriously doubt Tony called any news outlet to tell them that. Remember folks, vacation news crews looking for a story, something to stand out to get them out of the "B" or "C" team crew. They may have used one line out of probably a decent conversation because it was the most catchy/provacative. As others stated it is probably pretty common to go back and forth and the statement might have been said in passing that they were going back on forth and are $5 million off. We really don't know.
  2. Correction on my reservation count coming... Initial count was 155 including penthouses. I think I counted a floor twice or something because I was way off. Current count including penthouses is 118 reservations That number was double checked and transfered to an Excell Sheet which also indicates 118 rows of data.
  3. Fact is we don't know any information behind the very short blurb on Channel 4. For all we know they called to see what the progress was or when to send cameras out for the ground breaking since it's rumored to be around the corner. ST is a big deal for the city and vacation/weekend crews are in this week putting the news together because of the holidays so who knows whats going on or who's pulling the stories together. For all we know there was a long conversation and the news department chose the blurb they used for a great little "doubt" piece. I'm not saying there is a conspiracy but the fact is we know nothing beyond the little information we've been given. Print news is much more trust worthy when it comes to details because they don't operate on a 15 second or 30 second time limit. Richard??????? William???? what news have you all heard????? I agree with the first part of what Jeepers said, if $5million is all that is holding things up then that doesn't seem like such a big problem on a project of this size. That can prob be talked down and negotiated or charged elsewhere. $5mill is a small enough number for Tony to get that extra week or two he may need to finalize things or to convert a few more reservations then come back and proclaim he's ready to go. I'd expect this is far from being dead.
  4. Don't know what was going outside the sales center at the Suntrust building but there was a crowd. I counted at least 10 couples, all who looked to be in their 30's and 40's all hovering around the Siggy Sales Sign out on the street. A few couples joined the crowed once exiting the Suntrust building. These were not tourist, all seemed to be dressed in nice comfortable business casual attire. I know it could have been a number of things but they all flocked around the siggy sign as they waited. My meter was up and the dog was going crazy so I couldnt hang around to see what was up.
  5. I think there is only one crane. There have been two the past few days because there was a red one helping build the yellow one that is cemented into it's base. I believe the red one was coming down today. I got a photo gallery of pics I took today, here's the link. I'm temporarily storing them on a site I'm building till I can figure out where to let them live long term. One shot shows the red one in the street it may be tiny in one of the pics. Pics are of Terrazzo site, Gulch, Icon, Pinnacle Site, Encore, WES, Rolling Mill and Cumberland Yacht Club site http://www.discovermusiccity.com/pics.html
  6. We know no one has to eat crow but I believe the comment was dating back to a comment left by Jeepers or someone (I think it was Jeepers, it was some time ago) where the poster said something about eating crow if X Y Z happened. I think the ribbing is all in good fun and with July 5th approaching fast we'll see what happens and I'm sure if it does break ground we'll still have those who will not believe it's coming and if it doesn't break ground we'll have those who believe that it will. BlueRaider did disclose his or her source as I read it last night but must have edited his or her post prob at the request of the source. Nice to see you stop back by Metro
  7. I missed it in the city paper last week but apparently the mayor met with STU Bros last week and Jamenson met with the developers of the BBS-Pinnacle building about the thermal site. The article stated that the transfer of the site to the parks department will proably be defered in June. It passed first reading and was to go up for second reading sometime in June. Looks like we might still see some nice development in the future on that site
  8. Thermal site is smaller and from what I understand the study showed the current location was the best and its a monstorus site. The anchor hotels (private) would also need room, Tower already is primed with thier location.... Thermal Site Oddly shaped 11 acres Current Site 15 acres to house a 1.2 million-square-foot facility Here's a bizjournal article about possible hotels http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/stori.../27/story1.html
  9. The lot behind the CMHOF prob won't get a hotel anytime soon. Over the past couple of months it has been converted into a parking lot. Work is still being done on the site like planting trees and shrubs. A truckload of trees were delivered yesterday morning. Tower owns this surface lot along with the majority of the rest of the land where the proposed convention center will live. I guess they figure might as well let it make money while things get done on the convention center. It still has to pass through Metro Councel, then all the pre construction designs and all that work needs to be done, not to mention relocating some people who will be moved, etc..... Still a long way off from opening doors on this project.
  10. I believe it's done or close on the state level. I believe the last piece of legislation was passed just today by the state house. I believe everything now moves to Metro Councel. I checked their calander about a week agaon and I think I remember there is some sort of disscussion on the 24th about it. It seems to be moving along quietly behind the scene. Anyone who knows more info than I have read please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. http://www.nashvillemusiccitycenter.com/legislation.aspx
  11. Agreed 100%---- As for the story... It's nice to see Tony G. trying to generate a buzz to help move his project along. That is part of the game and I bet it works on a few people. I don't think Tony G. wants to go down the media barren road Palmer has traveled with his WES. Tony is going to stay out in front and keep that buzz going while his group is working behind the scenes. Overall I think it was a good report about Nashvilles Urban Living.
  12. monsoon you are quite touchy. I didn't mean to try and stir the pot or insult anyone. I am just saying that there are quiet a few post thoughout the gazillion of pages on this thread that have put this project down and condemed it, and who knows those who don't think this will materialize may be right. I for one am not 100% sure this project will fly but i hope it does. It was an updated article on todays local paper, the first progress given to the public in quiet awhile. I don't see why it was such a big deal, in my book and where I grew up a "nay sayer" ain't that bad of a word. I shouldn't have to defend a simple comment posted in a conversational style. I wasn't trying to rub it in anyone face. As I stated, I know the news of the hotel alone won't get this project moving but it can't hurt that ink has been applied to the papers. sorry if this ruffled a few feathers that isn't how I intended it to come across... Do you wish for me to delete the post???
  13. Fresh from the Tennesseans website. One more positive step for you nay sayers.... http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...NESS01/70423033 I know this alone won't support the investment / financing needed, but it can't hurt any...
  14. The accident happened near the Donalson station. The cars on the road were backed up and a dummy was waiting in traffic on the tracks. The crossing bars came down trapping the car and the star smashed the front end. Report were that both driver and passenger were sent to the hospital but not life threatening from what the news said. The car mainly had a busted fender and hood, doesn't look like the train ramed it too hard. Hopefully this will teach others not to plant their butts on the tracks while stuck in traffic, especially if you know a train runs through there durring rush hour.
  15. Music City Star hits it's first car. Luckly no died.
  16. I agree, dropping down to 65 from 70 is no biggy. It will still be freaking huge. I'd rather see it dropped a few floors than never built. Wish I could have made the meeting this week. Sounds like Tony G. was preped for the visitors. Did anyone get any info of actual sales / conversions????
  17. I believe in Tony G.'s last interview he mentioned that a number of the penthouses were already purchased while a certain number were resereved and I believe there were only 3 still left for reserve / purchase. I don't remember the exact number purchased, but I believe it was three, because I remember thinking, "well there's 20 million toward the project"
  18. thanks for the pics. I've been meaning to stop in since I'm downtown almost every morning, but I just haven't had the time. For those interested the Virdian had an open house on one of it's condos this weekend. I'm sure more are prob scheduled for those people selling. The wife and I talked about stopping in to check out the building but we were already running late. I'd love to get a tour of the building and it's ammenities
  19. Got some signs up at the site here the the two quick pics I took. Looks like there is still room for more along the sides where there are still bare posts. The lot is sill open as well.
  20. http://nashville.bizjournals.com/nashville...ml?surround=lfn NBJ news article on the opening come Monday 19th
  21. WOW, Tony G. ain't playing around. Here is the link to the financing company he's chosen. http://www.joneslanglasalle.com/en-GB/ These guys are serious world wide players. I'd put money on Siggy rising close to the proposed timeline.
  22. I very much agree with the statement above "He has every incentive to make it happen...it's a career move." This is a move that will announce Tony G. is here to stay and he's a big time player. Tony could have easily built another Viridian on this site and it may have even broken ground by now, but that isn't what he wants. Siggy is a statement and the crown jewel of his resume. If siggy is built (which he has every intention of getting done come hell or hight water) he'll be able to do build basicaly anything he wants in Nashville and any other market he chooses. With the money he's put into it I think we'll see this start to rise this year. He's got too much time, money, energy, reputation, and his future projects riding on it.
  23. Yep fence is certainly ready to go up. I drove around the lot a few times yesterday while waiting for the wife and all the post had been errected. The lot was still open and will prob. close on Monday. I suspect that is when pretty renderings will go up around the lot as well. I was expecting parking to get tricky with another lot closing but noticed two lots virtually empty this morning. As for parking downtown for current business men and women and day visitors I don't see a problem. The city also created some more parking meter spots along 4th Ave along the Country Music Hall of Fame. Looks like Siggy is about to take a huge step towards construction. As for the type of residents, Im not surprised nor do I mind. With the groundbreaking of Siggy (keep your fingers crossed) hopfully we'll see an even larger housing boom and with it will come affordable housing. It's exciting to see an Urban Enviroment Develop right before our eyes.
  24. Was at the Siggy site this morning and no signs up yet but there is activity. The Yellow Steel security poles and chain links are being removed and the holes filled in with cement. Small two man crew doing the work.
