  1. That's what I've been thinking. There's no way they can spell Amway with the A in that position and have it be centered, or Amway Grand (the letter seems too big for them all to fit.) Maybe it will just say Grand? The A is in the right position for that.
  2. I've always been fond of West Leonard. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  3. I first got that feeling when Neon Americana was still there, but despite the loss of it that feeling has never gone away.
  4. Is it just me or does West Leonard feel like a really good place to have a large collection of neon signs? I've always felt this way, and buildings like this I think will interfere with that feeling.
  5. Well it's right on the route between the hotel and the people mover, and that hotel has more than 1200 rooms, plus the four office towers connected to it. That's a -lot-
  6. I'd assumed it already opened considering the Amazon vans on the road, getting my packages straight from Amazon now instead of USPS, and my Prime account now giving me next-day delivery.
  7. Alone, no, but I'm sure it would help and would likely dictate location. A location easily seen by tourists in the area will likely do far better than a location easily seen only by residents.
  8. This is also an issue. The best spots for one are all already taken by bars and restaurants. If only the Ellis lot at the corner of Lyon & Monroe were developed with a multi-story Walgreens or CVS involved. Or actually, what about the old Schuler's spot? Did anything ever move into that space?
  9. That's completely fair. Something near to the bulk of the hotels, with hotel visitors being the primary target audience. Perhaps if the 400-room hotel gets built, that'll provide the impetus for one to open nearby.
  10. Pritzker is a whole block away from Lake Shore Dr. It's also buffered by surface-level roads by a triple tree line, which with 131 being elevated would require some larger older growth trees to serve as a suitable sound barrier.
  11. Yes please, 131 is awful north of DT. Although a lot of that is due to ramps being on both sides, with traffic trying to shoot from one side of the highway to the other in short distances, so I'm not sure it'll fix things too much...
  12. There's already one (Meijer Pharmacy) inside Spectrum, it's just not advertised anywhere from the street. I get my prescriptions filled there.
  13. One of the curve sections (in that bottom photo actually) had part of an edge chipped off and broken a few weeks ago, like the corner had banged against something. Now it's barely noticeable. So I'm going to make the assumption that these panels will look good in the end through some sort of construction wizardry.
  14. If the top floors are in need of complete and total rebuilding (which I suspect would be the case from water damage in that storm and the rains the next day), and all floors below are fully protected already due to concrete floors, I'm not sure tarps would really be all that necessary? The only thing the tarps would be protecting is that which is already damaged.
  15. Why are they converting that intersection from concrete to asphalt? That seems unnecessary and.. backwards?
  16. Well at least it's not one of the many stick-built structures that have gone up lately, so whatever fire there is should be relatively contained, right?
  17. I seem to recall them saying the same about their taco place that failed.
  18. I'm hearing there are poured concrete floors between each level, so damage including water damage is going to be limited to the upper floor only. From what I'm hearing, they plan to repair/rebuild the upper floor and roof. No demolition, no new building, no land sale.
  19. Unless they've tarped it all over already, I can't imagine the current rain will be too kind on the structure and units below in regards to water damage.
  20. I wonder if the Butterworth site would include a large battery center to translate that solar power generation into energy available during the night?
  21. Maybe this? Not a whole lot of information available. https://www.grcc.edu/abroadervision/15541
  22. We've been re-engaging cruise control for decades now without too much of a problem, and if memory serves these Level 2 Teslas have a much higher safety rating than the average.
  23. It's not the greatest compared to the authentic older buildings in the area, but worse than the hole? Come on, now. It feels like a better version of some of the postwar stuff one street to the east. Not my favorite, but certainly not worth being overly dramatic about.
  24. No plates, no silverware, and seafood boils being advertised? Sounds like a good ol' Louisiana crawfish boil is in my future.
  25. I noticed that, too. Couldn't miss it going north on 131. Probably no need for a tower crane; this thing towers above the tower crane at the theater/hotel site.
