I used to use Firefox...then I got the Mozilla Suite...basically the same thing...as far as I can tell. I can't really choose my favorite. All I know is it's more safe for the good ol' computer than Internet Explorer.

The suite is the mozilla browser but it is also bundled with their email cleint, irc client,etc. Basically, if you want to use all the mozilla programs you can download and install this to do it all at once.

There's no harm in changing it.

I just made the modifications... Greatest thing next to increasing the MRU. There's nothing to worry about. All you're doing is increasing the amount of data that you can receive at one time. At 4, with broadband you're not using your maximum available bandwidth and all that remaining bandwidth gets unused.. What a waste.

If you want, do a before and after speed test on DSLReports:

http://www.dslreports.com/stest

And, worst case scenario, you can always put it back to the original settings, but I doubt you will have to.

I tried the below from www.tonytalkstech.com. The same as previous except with an extra 3rd step. It does seem to have speed up quite a bit, but I'll keep you posted if I notice anything "bad."

Dang. That is significantly better. Thanks for that info!

A heads up about that bandiwdth tester. You have to have a beta version of firefox for it to work.

I'm using 1.0 not PR but the actual release and it works? I'm just saying so that if anyone is interested in using it, it's nice but like i said I don't trust the results. Maybe it has to do with me not having a beta version, i dunno, i wasn't aware of that?

I'm not using a beta, I'm on 1.0.

I'm on a university connection, so everything is pretty super fast already, especially since I'm pretty much the only one on the network today as all the kiddies are home for Christmas.

Haha, I just changed the number of requests the browser can make at once 150...it really runs fast now. I'm just glad I'm back on the university network...the cable modem at home is so slow compared to this.

More is not better in this case. That will slow your browser down. I'd say that 30 should be the max.
