Seattle Ponders Replacement For Elevated Highway

As Seattle debates replacing an aging elevated highway:

I got to thinking of what would happen if someone in Orlando had the notion of undoing I4 through downtown. It perhaps speaks volumes about us that it has probably never even been considered (of course realizing all the reasons it would be almost impossible, starting with the fact that all roads lead through Tallahassee).

I've pondered this question myself. Economics aside, is it possible to submerge I-4? And if we were to do so, what would come of the land? Would we build an artery park like the Greenway/Big Dig, or reconnect the street grid and street walls? A variation of both?
