The Vanderbilt baseball team secured its first regular-season SEC championship after defeating visiting LSU 4-1 and receiving some late help from Ole Miss. The Rebels defeated Arkansas about 30 minutes later to give the Commodores the outright title. The win also gives Vanderbilt its first ever No. 1 seed in next week's SEC Tournament. Going into the game, there were several ways that Vandy could win the regular season title outright. The league title is the fourth for Vanderbilt all-time as the team had won three others in postseason play in 1973, 1974 and 1980. Top 8 teams go to SEC Tournament. Tennessee is finishing out the season against Florida. Kentucky is against Auburn. Alabama is against Mississippi State, Ole Miss is against Arkansas. LSU is against Vanderbilt.
