Judge Rules Against State Farm

A federal judge ruled against State Farm Insurance Co. today in what could be a benchmark case with wide implications for the settlement of hurricane damage cases. The judge has held them responsible for the full limit of the policies. State Farm has thus far been able to wiggle out of paying the full amount of claims for the full amount. I'm sure we haven't heard the last of this, but it is a step in the right direction.

State Farm Agrees to $500m Settlement

This isn't perfect, but "it should get some money on the ground", as Attorney General Jim Hood said today. This will not affect those currently in litigation with State Farm, but should provide enough money to get a few people out of FEMA trailers.
