Homelessness in the region

Recommended Posts

According to the recent study Hawaii and Alaska are among the top states with the highest percentage of homelessness in the United States. Hawaii ranks 4th supposedly Alaska ranks higher according to the report but on the map below the percentage for Alaska is lower so maybe the map's number is wrong or the article?

The National Alliance to End Homelessness, an advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C. concluded that more than 733,000 people are homeless in America, or 0.3 percent of the entire U.S. population, according to a Gannett News Service story.

The report, which was based on results compiled in January 2005, said Hawai'i's nearly 6,000 sheltered and unsheltered homeless population was 0.47 percent of the state's 1.2 million residents
