A little late getting started in this compared to other forums, nonetheless. Here is a construction thread for the Sheraton. I'm planning on charting it's progression. Everyone else feel free to post your own pics. you can also use this for general discussion. :)

this view's going to change soon.

I like that it's going to add density to downtown. Immediately next door is the AZ Republic.

Tower cranes, these things are a few places downtown. A back drop of a rare cloudy AZ day.

thanks for the renderings Colin. I agree with you on the style, IMO it looks like one of those old school Vegas Hotels. It looks like it's really going to give some of the folks at the republic a very narrow and boring view from the windows.

Great pictures, this thing is really rising fast.

I know the design seems a bit old and boring, but it might not be that bad in the end.

Take a look at this high resolution rendering which shows the fascade a little better, looks like it might be something similar to the new Convention Center, a sort of natural stone look.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that a W hotel was going to be built in Scottsdale. I am happy that this hotel is going to be built. I'll save my final judgements until after I can see what it truly looks like. My Vegas comment comes more from the fact that there is a long, skinny tower jutting out of a casino like base. Just makes it look more-strip like, and less urban. But I can't tell fully from renderings.

The top of the building is its saving grace. I see what you mean about the building looking like something from the 90's generation of Vegas hotels. What's happened to the old Sheraton/Adams/Crowne Plaza on the site of the original Hotel Adams?

I just think the hotel looks boring.

I'm not sure about the other plan that you're talking about. It will get looked into. However, if I had to guess, I'd say it went the way of the shelf, as most of the PHX projects do.

yay I actually took photos The Sheraton is coming along nicely It's the same height as the republic building, that's great especially when you consider the size of the hole they made before they started building it.
