On Monday, VIA will begin running a new express bus service from downtown San Antonio to the North Loop 1604 area. The new line will run down U.S. 281 every half-hour during peak traffic times and hourly at other times. VIA is predicting a daily ridership of 370 people within six months.

Also on Monday, VIA will add more express buses to interstates 10 and 35. Officials expect daily boardings on those corridors to jump from 1,700 to 3,000 in six months.

A new route, 93, will join Route 94 on Interstate 10 from the University of Texas at San Antonio downtown to the Loop 1604 campus.

Together, buses will run about every 15 minutes during peak times but will have different stops along the way.

Route 17 buses on I-35 from downtown to Loop 410 will start running every 15 minutes during peak times.
