The Watering Hole

I was watching a show on TV a few nights ago about child actors. The actor that played Ralphie turned to working in porn when he got older. Times are tough I guess. :D

Correction. The kid who played Flick in A Christmas Story worked in porn when he grew up. I don't know much about the porn industry, but I am very familiar with A Christmas Story. Between my kids and my dad, we watch it on average of about 30 times a year. Good God do I need a life.

I was seaching the web for information about when the Masonic Temple Building was built and boy did I run into some real freaky stuff. Masonic, Brotherhoods, free masons etc... Anyone a freemason among the forum ranks that can explain to me what the teaching of a mason is? I keep finding nothing but websites, arcticles, books, that for some reason say its the coolest teachings to hit the streets since Jesus and the bible, and others that say its the engine that drives propaganda for a new world order....bla

Go buy some of Dan Brown's books like Angels & Demons and The DaVinci Code. They're all about the Freemasons and secret societies. Freaky good stuff!

Did you google this or are you a secret dan brown fan? I wonder... are you a secret cult member with superstar status in the brotherhood...hmmm

 I googled the site, but yes, I have read all his books. I finished Angel's & Demons in about two days because I couldn't put it down. Even as a Catholic, I thought The DaVinci Code was increbible.

Ya, as a Catholic/episcopalian I thought it was a page turner because of the somewhat unbelievble "facts" he has presented... My mom thinks he just the coolest guy to walk the planet, other then Jesus of course. After finding some interesting things about Masons and such, i've decided Illuniatis are too good for my bandwidth so I'n not going to be one for this whopla. :-)

Anyone ever have one of those mornings when you wake up foggy with hangover and then have to play "CSI" to figure out what exactly happened the night before?

It's ok as long as you wake up in your own bed and not a strangers bed or a ditch.

Hey, I read, but can't remember where, that Second Story Properties is going to host a national "Urbanite" speaker at Ryerson Library. Only room for 75 people. Anyone know where I saw this? It said to call Donna Dozeman for a reservation.

Now where'd I put those doggone reading glasses??

They are bringing Doug Farr of Farr Associates from Chicago. I had heard that it was by invitation only but maybe there is more then one talk. Triple G's got the scoop.

Don't care for Doug Farr too much myself. He and I got into a small arguement at the Congress for New Urbanism conference in Chicago last year. He's a bit too full of himself.

Farr Associates recently completed a streetscape study for the Grand Valley Metro Council. Triple G and I were involved in some of the field recon for that study.

What did you get into a fight with him about Nitro? That is too funny!

Well to make a long story short, Doug rides both fences of being involved in the USGBC and CNU. For supposedly being one of the "greenest" architects in the midwest (He designed the Platinum certified Center for Green Technology in Chicago) he had the stones to stand up in front of the whole new urban group and say that the idea of a "green" big box retail store was absurd. His contention was that big box stores shouldn't exist so who cares if they go green.

Although big box stores aren't exactly my favorite things in the world, my point was that we aren't going to get rid of them anytime soon. So if they want to take measures to reduce energy use and make the stores a better environment for the people that have to work there more power to them. I called him out on it and we had some banter that went back and forth. Nothing that was going to end in fisticuffs or anything. :)

Darn, I was going to pull out the Rockem Sockem Robots again :P You guys might be too young.

Rizzo, you are too funny! Don't bring my name up over at you-know-where :P

But you're right. Any GR post can't make it through completion without someone slamming GR. shakehead.gif
