Personally, I think they were/are out of touch with reality. I think their plan relied on either false or overstated perceptions about the nature of politics and religion in South Carolina.

So, since this thread was started a long time ago..

what has been the impact of CE? I have the impression that they've been a complete failure, but I don't live in the upstate. Anyone have some insight into this?

I don't think its the families so much as it is a lack of confidence that Andersonians can ignore what these people have to say. 15 famillies is not many, but they can influence a lot of people- particularly the uneducated, ignorant, and apathetic.
