I live right outside of Durham...

If I had to move to another midsize city, my choices would be Asheville, Charleston or maybe Wilmington.

I don't know about the Virginia cities not being southern enough - Richmond, which is a very cool city, is really Southern; at the very least some of the drawling tiiidewahtah accents I've heard while hanging out there would rival anything I've heard in Charleston or Savannah.

Looks like my "oft-overlooked city" is still being overlooked. :(

But of the cities given, I'd have to go with Little Rock. I really like that city, and it keeps me in the part of the country I feel most comfortable with. Not to mention, it puts me just down the road from Hot Springs, my favorite southern destination town.

Pensacola, St. Pete, Charleston and Tallahassee in that order.

Oh yeah, Pcola getting some love!

it is a charming mid-sized city. Metro almost half a million, one of the most historic cities in the south, and the people are fantastic!

it's florida's charleston!
