No, I didn’t live in the garage you’re describing.

 

I was in the house to the left of this one with the red door.  A friend of mine bought  it about 20 years ago and I had the pleasure of living there during renovations.  When they were finished,  I was kicked to the curb lol (moved to Jackson Ward from there).

This occurred in my network recently where I couple I went to college with were living in an apartment in the Museum District (Gallery at Midtown) that a friend thru another connection lived at 10-12 years ago when the complex was first re-purposed - making a pit stop one day to drop something off a t their place on way to elsewhere with him in the car - 'this was my complex when i moved to Richmond...this was my building...umm this was my floor...that was my door!'

We did it ladies and gentleman. The final nail on the coffin of NIMBY-ism for this project. The Byrd's Nest is slated for next spring 2024! woo!
