Today, the site is primarily used as a home-grown skate park, but the plans Contour presented for what the company is calling “The Village at Poe Mill” would add six buildings, each six stories tall, accommodating 428 apartments.

Half of those apartments would be used solely for affordable housing, according to the plan.

Greenville County Redevelopment Authority has sold the old Poe Mill site at long last.

The closing process began Feb. 9, executive director John Castile said, with the property going for $1 million to Michigan-based developer Contour Companies, which has big plans to transform the site into "The Village at Poe Mill."

Contour has proposed to build an 11-acre development that would feature 428 residential units, 30,000 square feet of commercial space with shopping and dining options, and also a spur extension of the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Poe Mill, another redevelopment spearheaded by Contour Development Group in Greenville’s Park Place area, has some improvements underway, with construction set to begin Summer 2024.

The mill will be a mixed-use site with restaurants, apartments, gathering areas and green space expected.
