Two former Survivor cast members from Greensboro will appear on Survivor 31. America voted for Greensboro natives Kelly Wiglesworth from season 1 (Borneo) and Jeff Varner from season 2 (Australian Outback) to return. Kelly Wiglesworth was runner up to winner Richard Hatch in season 1. The Greensboro area is a hotbed for reality tv . Chris Daughtry from American Idol is from Greensboro and winner Fantasia Barrino from American Idol is from High Point. Televised American Idol and X Factor Auditions were also held in Greensboro. Whitney Thore from Greensboro has her own reality series on TLC called "My Big Fat Fabulous Life".
