Whole Foods Lansing

's way out in sprawlsville - ad the lackluster architecture and horrible site plan are designed, accordingly.  But I guess at least it'll be on our most heavily-ridden bus line and offer another shopping option on the eastside of the metro.

Crews will begin building the Whole Foods Market in Meridian Township early next month.

Construction of the nearly 36,000-square-foot grocery store should be complete by the last quarter of 2014, according to Grand Rapids-based Wolverine Building Group, the project's general contractor.

It's well under way, and to open this summer, but the store has twice been expanded while under construction.  From the LSJ earlier this month:

MERIDIAN TWP. – A Whole Foods store under construction in Meridian Township will have room for more grocery shelves when it opens this summer.

Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods Market is asking the township for permission to build another 3,200 square feet at its store on Grand River Avenue for offices and an employee break room, said Peter Menser, Meridian Township's associate planner.

That's on top of nearly 5,700 square feet that Whole Foods already has added to the west side of the building for more retail space.
