This borders on the speculative but maybe not.

It's very possible that the best pro-style high school QB AND the best boy's basketball guard (shooting OR point) in the high school class of 2016 are classmates at Bentonville High.

Last week, "Bennie" won the Arkansas 7A football state championship in a rain-soaked game at War Memorial Stadium against then-unbeaten Cabot (in what was the best chance in 9 years for a Little Rock area school to take home the "big school" football trophy).  Bentonville's quarterback Kasey Ford, still 15 and not old enough to have his driver's license, was the state championship game MVP.  That also earned him http://blog.hsgamecenter.com/2013/12/17/ford-led-bentonville-crowned-state-champs'>High School Gamesetter "National Player of the Week" honors.

His fellow (also a sophomore, Bentonville Class of 2016) BHS classmate Malik Monk, averaging about 29 points per game on the young season, http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/171070/malik-monk'>is currently ranked the #1 shooting guard in the Class of 2016 by ESPN, and is, I believe, ranked as the best guard (shooting or point) PERIOD in their overall rankings.

There's really no football rankings for the class of 2016 yet, and a million things can happen between now and graduation, many of them not good, but nonetheless, it's very possible that Ford and Monk, if they keep this up and keep improving (Bentonville's football Coach Barry Lunney, Sr. says colleges (meaning "coaches") we see from coast to coast on Saturdays (NCAA telecasts) will be in to see Ford play) will be at the very top of their positions (Ford, pro-style quarterback; Monk, basketball shooting guard), perhaps each close to or at #1, in the high school class of 2016.

That, as much as anything we've talked about here at the Urban Planet, is emblematic of what's happened in Northwest Arkansas this past decade.
