  1. From today's N&O, potential Jetblue expansion: Austin, Orlando, San Juan. Could be a while though. Sorry, no link.
  2. The proposed facility will be located off of Pleasant Grove Church Road between Pleasant Grove Church Road and I-540. The study about to get underway will look at both buses and an APM, but the APM will only be considered when passenger levels reach 12 million enplanements (current level is 4.5 million). While the Pleasant Grove Church site is the primary focus, others options will be studied. I personally would like to see the rental cars in the deck.
  3. FYI, a Royal Air Force Tornado and L1011 are parked on the GA Ramp at RDU.
  4. Northwest will move with Delta. Continental will take the Terminal 1 gates vacated by Delta and the Gates 5 thru 9 will be mothballed.
  5. How about extending the black line up Glennwood to the Airport and Briar Creek and then tie into the RTP North Station. Or you could extend the black line around to Rex Hospital to the Art Museum to the Vet School/Stadium and tie into the Fairgrounds Station.
  6. It looks like RDU will be losing 777 service to London. Starting in November is will be downgraded to a 767.
  7. Dropping Austin is a surprise. I flew to and from Austin last weekend. The flight out was easily 80% full and coming back was completely full. Update on Terminal 2. I heard from a concessionaire that the grand opening party for media and dignitaries is September 15. The Terminal is supposed to be operational October 1.
  8. I've been told by people close to the project they will be lucky to have it open by October. The concessions are a mess. The concessionaires were originally supposed to start upfitting in late January early February, but they did not even submit their layouts until late February to the Authority for approval. I hope i'm wrong about the timeframe.
  9. A preliminary design was completed to extend Runway 16-34 to the south towards I-295. The final length was going to be 10,000 feet. The terminal project took priority and the extension was shelved. Now that the terminal project is complete, who knows if it will come back. The current master plan for the Airport has a parallel runway to 16-34 planned. The runway would be on the other side of the railroad tracks and Charles City Road with a bridge over Pocahantas Parkway like the new Atlanta runway. RIC would have to more than double their traffic to justify the parallel.
  10. Maymont Park in Richmond is a great example of a small zoo/park. http://www.maymont.org/
  11. The tunnel in question is for emergency and maintenance vehicles. It was constructed when Taxiway "E" was constructed and has never been used. The airport is currently constructing services road on either side of the tunnel to connect the terminal area with the maintenanace facility.
