  1. I don't know if this is a bug or just missing feature, but there is not a list of the venues. You can view the artists, and from each person's page, view their venue. But I want a list of the venues so I can plot my course. I guess I'll just go on their website.
  2. I just put it on my phone. There are a few bugs, but it's pretty nice.
  3. I talked to the ArtPrize folks - when you register for ArtPrize, you can purchase an upgraded package. You get a guide book and a wristband that will get you into various events/parties throughout the competition. I believe it also gets you free shuttle rides.
  4. Does anyone know if there is going to be an official book for ArtPrize? I'm thinking a large coffee table book with great pictures of the art. I know that if you pay $20 when you register, you receive a booklet and a wristband. But I want something more substantial to save...
  5. I'm really excited for ArtPrize and just had to share a little something about the artist and venue that my company is supporting... It's called ""The Furniture City Sets the Table for the World of Art" and it's by artist Sarah Grant and her company Sticks. Fox 17 did a little feature on the construction of the piece. Fox 17 Coverage of ArtPrize If you want to read about the construction, visit Concept Design Group - ArtPrize And, my company is planning a scavenger hunt for employees during ArtPrize so they can get out and explore the art. I hope that other business around the area really encourage the people of Grand Rapids to take advantage of ArtPrize.
  6. Does anyone know what is taking the place of the old Miller's spot on Burton and Eastern? It was La Flor, then El Chisme. Now it looks like someone is doing a lot of work on the front.
  7. Has anyone been to River City Slims - the new place on Commerce? The Press reviewed it several week ago, but I wondering if any UP people have tried it out.
  8. Could it be the Red Star Tavern? It's a chain with midwest locations. Here's the website: http://www.redstartavern.net/
  9. As a tenant in the Towers building, it is very cool to see the progress on the Cancer Pavilion! Pretty soon the men are going to be right outside my window!
  10. Hey, that's my office you're talking about!! And yes, we are here to stay for a while longer...
  11. An annoucement from Spectrum Health on their website: Capital Campaign for Helen DeVos Children
  12. I heard that the digging for the tunnel should be finished in the next few weeks - as of Monday, they were 70% dug.
  13. Update on the coffee shop in Alger Heights: A fellow UPer was stopping by Alger Height Hardware and notice a sign in the old Potpourri store that said, "Coming Soon - Gathering Grounds and Sundaes in Alger Heights" Finally!! That area is in dire need of a coffee shop.
  14. Well, I did some digging and as of right now, there are no plans to put up a webcam for the construction site for the Lemmen Holton Cancer Pavilion. There could be one for the other site on the west side of the Towers building, but I haven't heard a peep.
  15. I'll ask around the Towers building and see what I can find.
  16. Here's the latest update on the Towers construction: A tower crane will be erected for the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion parking structure the weekend of April 21. The crane has been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration and has been coordinated with Aeromed flight services. The crane will be onsite for 18 months to assist in the construction of the parking structures and associated tower superstructures. I can't wait to see it!
  17. If you do need to get to the Towers building for an appointment, they did make a nice parking lot for patients. However, it tends to fill up quickly with folks from the construction sites. That's another good question to ask: with all this construction, where are all the construction workers going to park? It's already a zoo down here with all of the hospital workers.
  18. As someone who works in the Towers building, I will be looking forward to moving to the new building. However, the construction is getting a little crazy down here. With the DeVos Children's Hospital construction starting across the street in the near future, the Van Andel updates, the Cancer Pavilion to the east and other medical building to the west, it's a bit much. I'm still wondering how I'm going to get out of the building once everything really begins....AeroMed from the rooftop?
  19. Does anyone know the name of the restaurtant that is going in at Breton Village Mall? It's got yellow exterior and looks very interesting. I've driven past it many times on my way in to D&W and haven't seen any signs.
