  1. -N.O.'s most popular spot. Pre-Katrina, everybody and their mama went here (including myself). Post-Katrina, it remains closed and is up for sale
  2. -They were flowing. I can actually see comedy rap becoming the next big subgenre under rap music.
  3. -2336 Valence St (Freret intersection) -2600-02 Jena St. -RenalSouthLLC. Note: I got these pics off Flickr. They were taken in N.O.'s dangerous 13th Ward, located in the heart of Uptown New Orleans. The ward is going through a bit of gentrification. Don't be fooled, the majority of 13th Ward is ghetto but if the development continues, the ward could possibly rival the Garden District in beauty and overall prosperity. Honestly, the area could really use it.
  4. Her face is definitely going to be swollen.
  5. Houston, Dallas, & Memphis would be suitable places.
  6. I hope you plan on going with a few friends or parents; going to New Orleans by yourself isn't very wise because there's a lot you can get into, most of it not good.
  7. I post on the Louisiana & New Orleans forums the most, from time to time I post on the Baton Rouge forum and I do a lot of lurking on the Shreveport forum. You already know where I'm from, I don't even need to tell you.
  8. Growing up in 13th Ward, whenever it gets hot in the summer the kids unleash the hydrants and play in the water. That's an inner-city tradition.
  9. No doubt. Any breeze generated from the MS River and/or the Lake helps out big time with the heat & humidity. When the wind comes against your body it's a blessing.
  10. If it's hot as hell in Baton Rouge, it's gotta be equally hot as hell in N.O. The good thing is that hot weather usually means voluptous girls in skimpy attire
  11. All you can do is shake your head.
  12. NCB representin' with these shots. Even from that high up in the air, you can see the Superdome and NO Arena.
  13. People fail to realize that just because you don't have children in public school, doesn't mean you are immune. Your friend could have came through the public school system, so you should at least educate yourself for their sake on public school issues. The only way Louisiana can get better is if the citizens take the time to study the candidates very carefully. Find out what they're about, where they stand, etc. You can tell if a potential mayor or governor is about what they say they're about by their track record. If they're full of caca, call them on it. Folk are too scared to confront the issues. If I see something wrong, I'm gonna speak on it regardless of who may come against me. If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. That's how I see it. I'm thankful for DVDs like New Orleans Exposed, they show the REAL New Orleans, not the sugarcoated version. Yes, DVDs like New Orleans Exposed are raw but they get to the root of why New Orleans & Louisiana is in the shape it's in. When Katrina decimated New Orleans, 80% of the city was decimated but check this: The Quarter & Garden District didn't get flooded but the rest of the city did. One would think if 80% of New Orleans was flooded, the Quarter & Garden District would suffer the same fate but they didn't because they were built on higher ground. I want to say that 9th Ward will be back but it's rather difficult when no progress has been made there, and if so we don't hear anything about it. This has been a UrbanPlanet Public Service Announcement from Derrick aka UptownNewOrleans. For everyone's viewing pleasure, the brand new NOPD squad car
  14. This analogy is gross but it fits. We all feel constipated at some point in time, even if we haven't stuffed ourselves with food. When we feel this way, we take a laxative to clean ourselves out and we feel much better. New Orleans, and Louisiana have been stuffed with so much incompetence & corruption that it's about to bust if someone doesn't come along and clean house. Real Talk. It's funny how buses can magically appear to get voters to the polls but are nowhere to be found before & during Katrina. People want to come down on rappers for their violent, sexist & misogynistic content but they were the first ones to step up. They bought evacuees new homes & transportation out of their own money. Did FEMA, the City Of N.O. or the state do any of that? NO. Houston took in the bulk of Katrina evacuees, and unfortunately they're paying for it through a violent crime spike.
  15. I can't see the logic in $18 million being used for a new practice/training facility when the NO Arena is more than enough for them to practice & train at
  16. You can leave the hood but the hood won't leave you. Once you grow up in the inner-city, it stays with you; it doesn't matter if you lived in good neighborhoods, the hood has a way of sticking with you I'm a product of the streets, that won't ever change. I can live in Eastover or the Garden District, but still keep my 13th Ward roots. People are gonna test you, so you gotta let them know that testing you isn't wise because of the extreme repercussions that follow. They'll back off once you let them know you mean business. Even though I got out of the street life, I can still bring it if necessary. Now that I'm older, I avoid beef as much as possible, but if it comes down to it, I can handle myself. Nobody in New Orleans is gonna test me for 2 reasons: 1.I'm a big dude (6'2, combination of Ronnie Coleman & Walter Thomas, speed like Michael Johnson) 2.I can match fighting styles with the best of them, but most people take the coward route and use a gun instead of fist-fighting Also, it's either me or you on a shirt, and it damn sure won't be me because I like living. As long as you keep your "don't test me" swagger & facial expression, you're good
  17. Kobe must be pimpslapping himself now. Now that Shaq is gone, the Lakers have no other center that can dominate the boards and inside like Shaq.
  18. You're right, the Hornets don't have any stars. The best teams have one or two star players that make everyone else better. Miami Heat=Wade & Shaq, Chicago Bulls (Jordan years)=Jordan, Pippen, and Kerr. The Hornets have the players, but they just need some players to step their game up. If they can do that, I can easily see the Hornets getting the same support as the Saints. Until then, New Orleans will continue to rep for the Saints. If Kobe does come to the Hornets, it will be good because we'll have an established player. Given Kobe's reputation as a supposed "ballhog", could he be able to co-exist with the other players? That's the question.
  19. dan326, you're a developer in training. You know your stuff
  20. I like it, I'll be up there this weekend. I need to get out of N.O. for a weekend
