  1. It may seem like it, but why is it that I have a hard time finding a parking space? Because the only buildings on that side of fulton are dorms so I park on the west side of fulton. Once they build and academic building on that side. Everybody will park there. That has been the rumored spot for a while and that building is awful.
  2. This is going to be the same way. The students will Live, eat and attend class all in this structure. They probably wont take all of their classes in this building, but the lifestyle and learning structure is going to be much different then the normal college.
  3. This seems a little ridiculous. They are going to be pampered just because they are smart. Honors College Living Center Cost: $33 million. This is more expensive than anything else they have done. Anybody know why they would do this? What: 40,800-square-foot Honors College located between two housing buildings. Includes two classrooms, a computer lab, a science lab, 16 offices. Also is supposed to contain a movie theatre for the honors students and a grill. Update: Construction began at the end of April. Move-in: August 2008
  4. Its going to contain a football field with a track around it and some seating and a couple of classrooms. This is going to replace the indoor track in the fieldhouse. Eventually, there will be seating all around the baskeball court, some chairbacks. This building is going to give the football team a place to practice in inclement weather (playoffs), aleviate some of the pressures the fieldhouse has been experiencing and prepares us for further growth.
  5. Eh, its like the boardman river in Traverse city and the lake (boardman lake) it runs into, most people just dont use it at all. It is something of value that gos underutilitized and therefore under appreciated, although they do have the bay to play in. It would be nice to see more on the river but how much can you actually do with a shallow river? Fish and thats about it. If someone would pony up the dough to have it dredged we may see that riverboat that sits down by the sewage treatment plant toward grandville strolling up the river. After living here almost 3 years I never walked down by the river other than eberhard center and I was dissapointed. Graffiti everywhere, as mentioned earlier, most of it was closed off, and even if it wasnt there is nothing to do but walk. They need rows of trendy shops and restaraunts facing that direction to draw people to the river. Most people dont want to drive downtown just to take a walk. Maybe the proposed theatre will spark some life down by the river. Also they need to change the bridge lightbulbs. only about 1/3 of them are light up. Whats up with that?
  6. Hmm, so you are saying that Grand Valley graduates are going to be stocking shelves or ringing people up at Meijer upon graduation. Grand Valley is no longer the cupcake of universities in Michigan and admissions is now very competitive. I chose Grand Valley over U of M and Michigan State to attend Seidman because of the quality and quantity of potential internships and jobs in this area. I grew much closer to U of M and MSU and chose to come here instead. Are you saying that employers do not respect degrees from GVSU? GVSU's quality of students for incoming freshman that last 2 years is second in the state to only the U of M. (24 ACT and 3.5 gpa.) I think it is unfair to say we have jobs at Meijer waiting for us and to post pictures of french fries. The university you guys have here in west michigan produces top notch job candidates and is very good in business, education, engineering and nursing. I take offense to this.

    Traverse City

I just moved to grand rapids from TC and it is by far the nicest place I have ever lived. It is not easily accessable from an major highways which is the only thing keeping it from growing outragously. It is a secret that I hope is well kept. Housing it outrageos there and the job market doesnt really support many college grads.
  8. Does anybody know where the MSU medical school will go when and if it relocates here, I am assuming it will be near the other medical buildings and close to the GVSU downtown campus.
