  1. Great infill for West Fulton! Its nice to see this happening all over the downtown neighborhoods.
  2. Yay! The ugly stamp of the 60's and 70's is almost completely gone out of downtown now! (I'm looking at you Post Office)
  3. That'll be great to have that building renovated, even though it was a nice spot to park. Now if they can just start working on the building across from Wealthy Bakery.
  4. I see this as a great filler activity. When people come to downtown for a convention or for an out of town event this would be an option for something to do during the day and then have dinner or drinks. Rather than sending people back to the burbs to watch a movie or sit at home, they can walk down Ionia for a movie and food and whatever retail ends up going in there. I can't wait for it to open personally. I hate driving 15-20 minutes just to see a movie.
  5. It feels like somebody accidentally pull the old BOB building out of the ground a floor. Looks very odd.
  6. I wish they'd address the I-96 interchange with 28th street before doing this. Cars have to slow down in the right lane before even getting onto the clover leaf exit because there's no off-ramp approach. And even worst than that is the Lane Ave on-ramp to west bound 196. There's no merging lane. Focus MDOT, Focus.
  7. I've heard from a little birdy that there will be another enhancement to the West side announced next Tuesday.
  8. It'll take a while for people to get used to a new bus and new bus stops. As the weeks go by I think the ridership will increase.
  9. Any action on this today? I drove by last night and the crane behind the building looked like it was about to Chomp! on it.
  10. They could probably take down the "Ron's Hand Car Wash" sign...
  11. I was hoping this would break ground soon. Maybe this will be a catalyst for other parking lots in that area. Not only south of the Arena but over by Grand Woods and Charleys Crab.
  12. http://therapidian.org/placematters-wealthy-grill-staying-put-looking-expand I'm excited that they are staying! One of my favorite places in town for a sandwich. Having a beer as well will be the icing on the cake!
  13. Anyone have a subscription to the WSJ? http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304632204579336753361171522
  14. Agreed, I assumed it went from Cherry to Lake. Thats a bummer. It'll still be nice for Cherry but Lake is really a "back of house" corridor now.
  15. I saw the station on Fulton near Jefferson the other night. It was lit up quite nicely. The tops of the support columns are lit up and there were down lights coming from the glass ceiling. I was driving by so I couldn't take a picture.
  16. I've always driven to the current Amtrak location or had a friend drop me off, but now that it is going to be next to the bus station I'm more likely to take the bus. Luckily my house is along the #2 route so it's easy to take downtown. I'd rather leave my car at my house while I'm gone than downtown in an unsecured lot.
  17. The Harris sign was lit up last night! Was driving by and saw it. Didn't get a picture.
  18. I would assume the Market is able to be in Artprize. College Ave is the east border and News 8 has been a venue several times, which is on the other side of the street. I would think anything on the other side of the street on Wealthy would be able to be a venue.
  19. You're thinking of the Kendall Building. The Keeler building is further up Division.
  20. I noticed the fencing last night too. Its across the entire front along Division except where the Grand LAN storefront is.
  21. A CVS/pharmacy would do great in the first level.
  22. Agreed. Its an apartment building. It'll be a great infill for that area. It'll be pretty visible from northbound 131.
  23. These renderings look great. That would be a nice infill for that area. I love Twisted Rooster, I'm anxious to see what they put in that spot.
  24. Looks very boring from the rendering. I'm not sure why the height of the buildings are an issue. Isn't a university building proposed for that area as well that is several stories tall?
  25. There are a lot of people that have cars, such as myself, but I had to take the bus to work everyday because my employer wouldn't provide parking for me. It saved a lot of money paying for a monthly pass on the bus rather than a monthly fee at a parking ramp. I'd be curious if more employers would stop providing parking if they knew there were options to park and ride the Silver Line. Maybe it ends up taking commuters more time but if they save money each month taking the Silver Line rather than paying for parking, that could add to ridership.
