Blurry buildings > Blurry people

I want an American Apparel Store. Read about them here. Tell them to open in GR here. And enter their photo contest:
Call for entries
We're looking for photos of unique things that surround you and your favorite city: signs, architecture, locals, tourists, businesses, and other bits of randomness. If you'd like to see your work exhibited here, please send us ten or more photos (under 10 MB and no ZIP files please) that articulate your vision. Photographers worldwide, especially those in smaller cities, are encouraged to apply. Compensation is $200 for 20 photos to be featured on our web site, plus a bio. Send your photos to:
I've briefly checked out their store in Ann Arbor. (get it... briefly... ha ha) I need to enter that contest!

Shock of shocks... I'm going to post a few that aren't blurry!!!
This juxtaposition of McKay Tower in the background and part of the new art museum under construction in the foreground caught my eye.
-
Not very urban, but I spent tonight in the woods and got a couple of lucky "shots".
I've seen deer within the city limits of Grand Rapids before. And I see them every week out here in Caledonia where I work.
-
I'm going to the Griffins playoff hockey game on Saturday night at the VAA. It's at 7. Any cool events going on downtown before or after the game to check out?
-
I'll go first. There's a Food and Wine Festival at the BOB tonight. This is via grnow:

Hey... there's a King Crimson flyer on that kiosk... where in town are they playing
The best looking concert I can find tonight is the Hillbilly Nightmare at Jukes.

Apparently I couldn't get enough of the umbrellas
coming soon to a theater near you... "Attack of the Killer Umbrellas"
-
How erotica!
You have to pay extra for that
-
Hopefully they're cleaning all that rust on that building, especially on the West side.
Took the kids to RiverBank Books a little while ago and I can't believe how many people downtown have cameras. What have we started??!!
It's the UPGR contribution to local arts education

Valley City Linen or whatever that place is called? Fulton and Diamond?
Cha-ching! It is indeed Valley City Linen. 10 Diamond SE. Corner of Fulton and Diamond.
142 bonus points will be polished and placed on a velvet pillow and then delivered to your residence shortly.

I'll post it for easier reference:
I thought it was the building right across Market from Charley's Crab, but I'm not so sure. The thing behind it though sort of looks like the renovated portions of Breton Village?
Hint:
It's at the intersection of F_____ and D______ ... and the "D" does not stand for Division.
-
The yellow should be a dead giveaway, but I'm not sure...Azucar night club on Division?
Nope. Do you need a hint?

Just received my copy of Grand Rapids Magazine yesterday and there was a short one page article about Urban Planet and how big the Grand Rapids Forum is on it.
Pg 27.
Very good stuff!
Cool news. I'll have to go pick up a copy.
Attention! New blurry picture of Grand Rapids up on the blog. 142 points are up for grabs. Go get 'em.
-
Oh! I absolutely know that one. The Grandville Arts Academy!
Correct! You get the 60 points.
How does a NE side guy like you know so much about the SW side of town
-
That was fun yesterday. Another blurry grand rapids picture is up and 60 bonus points are available this time.
I'll be offline for about the next two hours, so I can't give out any hints until then. Who knows... maybe someone will have guessed it correctly by then.

At work I could barely make out ANYTHING
Well, the blog ain't called BLURRY Grand Rapids for nothing!

Siegel Jewelers.
Correct! 200 bonus points all for you.
When I took this picture, I was amazed at how much light polution is thrown up by the Barnes n' Noble building/parking lot behind it. I always remebered it as a sleepy, dark alley behind a couple of buildings. And how long has Siegel been there? I can't even remember now who the previous tenants were. Something releated to education supplies at one point in time... maybe?
EDIT: ahh, the teacher's store! Thanks GR1... you get a few extra bonus points for remembering that!
New quiz tomorrow. Reserve the edge of your seat now.

Do you mean Meyer Music?
sooo close. it's right next door.
i didn't pick this location because of what businesses are in the store fronts. back in the day, we would sometimes stop in back of these buildings to do whatever kids do before they head to concerts at the Orbit Room.
the next guess should get the points. {drumroll} and the winner is...

That's definitely an old style brown bank with a drive thru ATM next door (that looks to be still in business). There's a guard rail that runs alongside this building. There is a satellite dish on the roof of the building, which they usually point South, so we are probably looking at the West side of the building. That means it's on a North/South thoroughfare (not 28th Street), the front of the building faces East, and there's an old bank North of this building. Howmy doin so far?
I can't remember if that brown building in the distance is the 5/3rd bank or the Honey Baked Ham across the... oops!!! Way too big of a hint =:-)
-
It kind of looks like the back of the old target building on 28th street.
Oooh... you're getting closer. It's a little bit west of that. The building in question is south of 28th Street somewhere between Patterson/East Beltline and East Paris.
What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

In a few minutes, I'll be listening to Bloc Party in my car.
Later, I'll be listening to whatever Pandora serves up for me.
