  1. I was in town recently and noticed some activity at Little Italy. Does anybody have the scoop on what's happening there?
  2. Great news! I was a little disappointed The Observer online made no mention of the 2 new flights that started this week. I remember they had an article about Paris when it started in the spring.
  3. How will that work? Will a US Airways agent be taking bag claims for United and Air Canada?
  4. It looks like you might be right tozmervo. With only 10% of the units under contract + new building ownership + the economy, it only makes sense. CLT O article about Catalyst
  5. Jetblue announced this week that they will add another CLT-Boston nonstop flight 5.1.09 for a total of 2. Competition is a good thing!
  6. Here is a moment all Charlotteans can be proud of: Sue Myrick, Ric Flair, and TMZ! Even Sue says Charlotte, NC!
  7. US Airways is also adding additional frequencies and up-sizing some aircraft. San Antonio and Austin will have a 3rd daily non-stop flight. Portland Me will have an additional flight added for a total of two and they will be on Embraer 175's a much nicer ride than the RJ's that seat 50 passengers. NY/JFK will also be an Embraer. The early AM departures to San Diego and Seattle are back. For a total of 2 daily non stops in each market.
  8. On NBC Nightly News last night with Brian Williams made no mention of "NC". I was taken aback that NC was not mentioned, I've come to expect it.
  9. I ran across this article on another board. It covers a lot of issues concerning US Airways but also touches on their international expansion with the arrival of new aircraft over the next several years. Vegas Article on US Airways From the article: "But it will be the eastern hubs - Philadelphia and Charlotte - that will get most of the airline's attention with its European emphasis." "Andrew Nocella, senior vice president of schedule planning and alliances, said the airline would start out adding more frequency to existing markets before barreling into new destinations. That means more flights to 18 cities that include London, Rome, Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam." I could see them adding several cities to CLT. Maybe not daily service but several frequencies per week to cities like Paris, Manchester, Madrid, Amsterdam, & Rome.
  10. My bad I was looking at the site plan and there is no mention of single family homes.
  11. It looks like Midwest is already pulling out of CLT. The last day of service is 4/3/08. I wonder if this is a business decision of the new owners of Midwest (TPG) or if the route never pulled in enough business passengers? Too bad, we need all the competition we can get!
  12. I thought there was going to be single family homes in the Morningside redevelopment. Looking at the website it appears to be all multifamily.
  13. Perhaps is was this site:CLT O story in ridership and TVM's I found this news disheartening. CATS is already being scrutinzed as a result of the cost overruns and mismanagement. I'm sure the anti transit crowd is licking their chops at this news. CATS needs to remedy this problem ASAP.
  14. I wonder how many of those passengers are local CLT folks? While 17% growth is good, the real stat is how many of the passengers are local vs connecting. I seem to recall that a few years ago local traffic accounted for about 20-25% of traffic.
