  1. NCCU considers DAP for new baseball team
  2. The city of Durham is accepting proposals from developers for the old Durham Athletic Park and the Rolling Hills area near NC Central U. It appears the city would like to keep baseball happening at the DAP, but to also increase the use of the field for special events (including the World Beer Festival and Bull Durham Blues Festival, which are already held there annually). 3. Ha, squeaky-clean suburban bliss. That'd be a great album title. What's interesting is that on older maps (1980s and 90s), Cary is barely a speck - it appears it would be the size of Statesville or Hillsborough. On newer maps, it's got a dot and typeface about the size of Wilmington's or Greenville's.
  4. Cary's got to hold the world record for most "gated communities". Anywhere in the world would be better to finish raising your family in my opinion. They should change their name to Sprawlsville. Of the three, I'd recommend Wilmington. Charlotte seems too big for what you aim to do, unless you and your family are accustomed to big city living. Wilmington has a charming downtown and waterfront area, is close to the beach, and hey, Dawson's Creek was filmed there: those kids turned out OK, right? Interesting side note: some locals refer to Cary's name as an anagram (acronym?) for Concentrated Area of Relocated Yankees.
  5. Sorry guys, Governor Romney removed the famous sign after the Sox won the World Series last year.
  6. Judging by the number of tall buildings in the area, it seems there's plenty of jobs downtown. Now it seems they need more homes downtown to bring a little more life to the area (especially on weekends).
  7. Thanks to all the murders lately, it's hard to turn the attention towards some building renovations.
  8. If Raleigh's never been a part of your life in any way, you tend to forget about it. Some people only recall the name because they had to memorize it when they learned the state capitals in grade school.
  9. Dan, I really hope you're right about Durham eclipsing Raleigh (to some extent) or at least becoming a "comparable" city in terms of business and culture (the latter it may already have a lock on). I walk to work downtown everyday and think of this city's potential. And for all of you who haven't been to ATHD yet, you've got to check it out. It's funny you mention Motricity - check out this link and scroll down to Raleigh-Durham: http://www.fastcompany.com/subscr/100/open_fast-cities.html
  10. North End a ghetto? You might think that based on population density alone. Mattapan, Roxbury - those are the closest thing Boston's got to "ghettos". I've only read the first and last pages of this thread. How long ago did the folks who were moving get phased out?
