  1. I went to the Pelzer Bi-Lo the day of the grand re-opening. They were still working on the finishing touches, trying to make everything perfect. Something slipped under their radar, though, and I managed to snap a picture of it with my cellphone. The sign's still up, too.
  2. The prices at GSP are way too high for me. I visit friends of mine in the Rochester, NY area a couple times a year, and this summer I'm going to fly out of Charlotte for the very first time. Why? The cheapest one-way flight leaving from GSP is $299. From CLT? $91. I'm a frugal college student -- there's no way I can justify $300 on a one-way ticket.
  3. I ended up swinging by and grabbing a menu as well as the food.. it was fantastic! I got one of the regular-sized pizzas (beef and extra cheese) and I felt like I was back at college again. Very delicious. I might try the spaghetti next time, though. As far as Baskin-Robbins goes, there are only three in the area; one on E. North St, one on Fairview Road in Simpsonville, and one in Anderson on Clemson Blvd. Tomorrow's high temperatures are supposed to be around 90, so a cheap cone might be a great way to cool off.
  4. I'm pretty bummed. I've been trying to find the phone number for the Pizza House in Powdersville, and it seems like it's a fruitless search. I've been craving pizza from Pizza House ever since I moved back from North Greenville. But! I have good food-based news! Tomorrow night is 31-cent scoop night at Baskin-Robbins. From 5-10, you'll be able to have a scoop of World Class Chocolate (or any other flavor) just by getting some change out of the couch cushions.
  5. Since this seems to be the home to Clemson football discussion, I figured I should let y'all know... ESPN College GameDay is coming to Clemson for the Clemson/GT game. This is the first time Gameday has been to Clemson. source
  6. I love that photo. Absolutely love it. The colors are bright and vibrant.. everything's perfect about it. One unintentional side effect, though: if I look at it long enough, I get kinda hungry.
  7. Like I said, guys.. it's just a thought I had. And I wasn't trying to imply that Greenville's too conservative to allow American Apparel; I'm just thinking.. Greenville's downtown seems to be a blend of family-friendly and high-end, and while American Apparel isn't exactly a porn shop or anything, their advertising and displays can end up on the porny side. It's entirely possible that there's another reason they're not opening a store in Greenville.. I was just offering up my own little idea.
  8. The thing is, every A&F ad I've seen -- with the exception of the now-defunct catalog -- has been.. somewhat tasteful. Some of the American Apparel ads .. well, they're not. http://www.tienmao.com/archives/001742.html -- a small sampling of what American Apparel shows online and in-store. It doesn't look like something that would mesh well with the West End, imho.. and that's possibly why they're not planning on a Greenville store now.
  9. This is just a thought (perhaps I should let it go, as Ron White suggests?) ... Could it be possible that Greenville balked at American Apparel's advertising, which sometimes borders on softcore porn? I don't have a problem with it at all, but no doubt, some might. That's why I raised my eyebrows when it was mentioned American Apparel would be opening up here. I was like, "really? They're letting American Apparel come here?"
  10. Rochester, NY. He's finishing up his last three semesters of school, and then he's moving to Greenville. And wouldn't it be more grammatically correct to call it "Oysters at the West End"? Unless the place is gonna be owned & operated by an oyster.. (Sorry, I was almost an English major.. )
  11. I know it's just a coming-soon sign and all, but they need a proofreader, as well as someone who can tell them that Papyrus is an awful font. It's nice to see another restaurant in the West End, though. I'm looking forward to dragging my Northern boy out for some Lowcountry food.
