  1. I am so over this F*ckn town. This bozo mayor does nothing while Alex Martins and the Devos' pull this crap. After a dirt lot sits empty for YEARS...we now get a parking garage, a half a$$ed suburban office building cut in half and a fat @ss wall of china part2 (copy of society x) with a vizor. That hideous wide monstrosity will kill any "views" we had from Exploria when the tv cameras pan towards SunTrust. Under-I Park is now back to parking, the Lightning get a 3.5b development and we get this???? This town is such a crap show and this incompetent red neck Gomer Pile wanna-be of a Mayor is the ring leader.

PRIME real-estate in DTO becomes this, meanwhile Miami has 2-3 1000' buildings going up designed by real architect firms...

I'm guessing that it might be delayed for awhile, but should eventually happen.

And who knows.... maybe a delay will result in a resigned, taller tower.

Maybe even a more interesting shape too, rather than another rectangle.

Lol i love the wishful thinking but is Orlando. Things only shrink here, they don't get taller.

I think the original poster is relying on his/her personal perspective of the homeless issue in DTO. And just like the topic of crime, it’s one’s perspective that shapes our opinion and feelings about these matters.  I don’t often agree with the poster,  but my perspective on the matter is similar and after relocating to Boston, I think I now understand why. Boston clearly has a larger number of unhoused folks, I have no doubt. But it also has a massive amount of everyone else in all areas of its core. The homeless are there, in greater numbers than Orlando, but there are so many more people on the street (going to work, going home, going to restaurants, etc) that the issue just feels so much smaller. It shifts your perspective. It often feels the opposite in Orlando, since foot traffic can be light in certain parts of DTO on any given day.

  4. Went to Water Street last week and wow. Tampa has turned the corner.  High end feels and adults spending money without  frat boys, riff raff and bums at every turn. They actually used a real architecture firm like Gensler to design the area, Now St. Pete is using them for the 6 billion  development around the new Rays Park. If we had those develpments, I can only imagine the crap that BB would design and it would be hailed as magnificent. All the while Tampa and St.Pete have lapped us.  Buddy and this $hitty city council need to go before they run this place further into the ground. It really is sad how far behind we have fallen.

Who paid for it at the Packing District? If it is the city, they are neglecting one side of town to benefit another. If not, the developer could have paid for it themselves.

since its on the roadway medians....I assume it was the city.    You can tell Buddy does not give a flying f*ck about DT with the state of distress its in.

  6. Has anyone else noticed the city skimping on landscaping quality. They have been planting those raggidy a$$ Sylvester palms instead of the much nicer Phoenix Date Palms. They even did it on the "crown jewel park" of the city and the new "Gateway Entrance" they are building where the 7-11 got demolished.  There also use to be a flowers in the park. now its just overgrown grass and weeds.

Meanwhile over in the burbs Packing District they fork out the money for the nicer quality Palms?

The article notes that the Modera portion will have on the ground floor 6,369 sq ft of retail, a lobby, and live-work units, while the Commons portion will have offices and 6,000 sq ft of restaurant. The buildings will be separated by a pedestrian-oriented "via." Could be a cool little street if done right.

Come on man... this is Orlando! When is anything "done right"?

    Nope it get's Orlando'ed

The amount of damage control Brendan is doing for the City in that article is sickening too.

"the City of Orlando is not shelving its plans to build a park under the I-4 interstate running the length of Hughey and Garland Avenues between West Washington Street and West Church Street, but they have recently shifted the original plans to include surface parking."

Then proceeds to show a rendering that has over 300 parking spaces over 3 city blocks practically dominating the site.   Brendan, you let them gaslight you into thinking that's including surface parking instead of it being primarily surface parking?

Remember back when Under I was envisioned, it was anticipated that the new garage Jefferson would provide the ability to walk through the park to the venues providing foot traffic to local businesses.  Thanks to these spots, now we don't have to do that anymore.

This is such a piece of crap city...its not even funny anymore...
