  1. Does anyone know if there is going to be retail on the backside, like part of the garage? This would be a great location to help liven up this area. I say demo the current strip that's on Magnola and make something nicer, especially with Dynetech next door. Also, has anyone been inside the downtown Post Office? It's beautiful!
  2. TT will be essentially covering Solaire. If you can make out the roof of the library and Embassy, it will be directly to the left of the libary and right of the Embassy. Hope that helps!
  3. I know it's not Orlando, but I wanted everyone to see the beautiful contours of the Georgia Aquarium. We could use more "curves" (no, not the place women work out in... there are too many of those) in our downtown architecture.
  4. There is no one answer. It will take a variety of systems yet it's possible. As far as proving the success of lightrail, look outside our country and over to Europe.
  5. I totally agree with you that MCO was planned with the correct vision. However, there is supposed to be an increase in flights, even with additional runways and terminal, from international and national that intra-state flights won't be likely. These are figures that were shown to me in this presentation so I'm reporting what I was shown. Here's to MCO for surpassing Miami International with passengers!
  6. In regard to traffic and mass transit, the population is only going to continue to grow. Mas transit will help to alleviate the traffic from those who choose to use it instead of the highways. The traffic will continue, no matter how many lanes you add. If there is no mass transit, it is only going to get worse. In a matter of years MCO will have so much air traffic from international flights that they will discontinue flights to say Miami or Tampa. This only contributes to the highway traffic from those having to travel to other Florida cities. With high-speed rail, there will be an alternative that may indeed help take highway travelers away. As far as light rail and developed areas, that's fine. They're already developed. But by blocking sprawl by preservation, it can only go so far. I like your icon btw!
  7. Don't forget the impact (hopefully) Dynetech will have in this area.
  8. There's actually a group to encourage mass transit (along with the problems of sprawl and the need to preserve our natural ecosystems) in Central Florida. As soon as I get the paper with all the information from them I will let you all know. I didn't get it because it was handed out at the main campus and I am downtown.
  9. I'm also getting the sensation of mediocrity--- however when it is all finished externally, I'm sure my feelings will change. Let's hope for the jumotron on the Orange & Pine corner as well as a bad ass lighting package. Especially depending on how the restaurant/ retail will interact with the windows.
  10. Does anyone know what they've been doing at that site? They seem to be "cleaning" the debris from the wall the former building once shared.
  11. Here is Chicago's beautiful Pritzker Pavillion at night. I have the color version as well.
  12. Actually, last I heard it is a Tunisian restaurant relocating from New Orleans
  13. The convention center is considred Orlando, isn't it? My address is "Orlando, FL" and I'm about two miles away from it.
  14. Go Williamsburg! No, seriously, think of the traffic it would bring to our side... wandering through Universal Blvd. and into the neighborhood. Wicked traffic from Hunter's Creekers (yes, a new term for them) getting to the arena en mass. Oy.
  15. I third the notion on Sushiman... they are great. Not trendy, just pure good sushi. They've been open for years!
  16. How tall are the other towers? Aqua... Mercado still stands, unfortunately.
  17. I totallt agree. It's horrible... aren't there supposed to be two more going up? Did you see the blue heron relief on the front of the building? It has been painted blue and contrasts with the hideous colors. It looks cheap IMO. Also, yesterday there were little dents being made in one of the old Delta Resort buildings facing I-4. Today it's guts are hanging out and ready to be completely down. Woo hoo!
  18. Here are some other pics I've taken from around the city the other day. BTW... I was looking in a book of US skylines... yea, Orlando already beats Jax and Tampa despite our lack of vertical-ness and we're only getting better! Hope you enjoy!
  19. I have photos taken of the rubble that will be 55W from yesterday. As soon as I host them somewhere, I'll put them up here.
  20. Where's the rendering? Did I lose what magazine it can be found in? Wait, don't tell me... it too is Mediterranean Revival.
  21. Now, relating problems with casinos is a correlational study and holds little true evidence. Disney and the other theme parks won't get "old" as they purposely change attractions to meet the desires of the audience. What the theme parks do bring job wise is minimum wage. That could be considered a problem.
  22. Have faith. If you build it, they will come. Perhaps like Disneyland did a couple of years ago, it will lead to a beautification of that whole area. I mean, think about it. If City Mark really does connect to the Prime Outlets, they're not that pretty either.
  23. Yea... the roach coming out of the pastry case in the Barnie's in the Florida Mall kinda' did it for me.
