Yeah, go ahead and build that one right there.

This looks much better than I anticipated. Love the juxtaposition of old and new.

Well, I wish I would have known there was a good possibility NASCAR was coming back soon before I moved close to the Fairgrounds a couple of months ago. I was excited about MLS being nearby, but I'm not a fan of NASCAR at all. Guess I may be considering a move again soon.
Don't even get me started on how irritating it is to hear that the mayor is being more welcoming to NASCAR than MLS.

I enjoyed the meal that I had from the Capitol View Central BBQ when they opened. I'm happy to hear that they're already expanding in Nashville and reusing the old Sportman's Grille space. I'll probably frequently visit this location.

Just thought I would break it to you all easy before you read it in the Post story and that is the tower is down from 29 to 24. This is from Hall Strategies the PR firm that handles the project. So that is not a misprint in the article when is says 24 stories.
We had heard that they were looking to cut cost and cutting floors is how you do it.

So, this means we may have four towers 300 feet and over going up simultaneously in Midtown?

It's definitely on my list for my next visit... assuming one can even get a table after they've netted such a prestigious accolade!
You would probably enjoy Maneet Chauhan's Chaatable as well. Both the food and the ambiance are great.

I live just up the road from Hathorne and thought it was an event space this whole time. Guess I'll check it out now.

Yikes! Someone probably had quite a wild night up there.

Does anyone have an update on the TJ's on White Bridge Road? I don't get out that way often but I will once this store opens! Parking at the other TJ's is beyond dangerous.
When I spoke with one of the workers at the Green Hills location last week, he told me some of the workers were beginning to transfer to the White Bridge location as early as this week. I guess this is a good sign things are moving along.
He didn't know the grand opening date yet, but he did say he didn't believe they have too much work left to do other than signage and whatnot. I'm assuming there was less work for TJs at that location since the space was already being prepped for Fresh Market before they backed out.

It’s weird that someone complains and says they won’t attend a new music museum focused on diversity because it’s going to be in a part of town that lacks diversity. Seems like a no-win situation for those trying to make the area more diverse.
Without trying to read too much into FromParkAveToTN's thought process, I suspect that he's being a little pessimistic and fearing that NMAAM will be a tough sell specifically to black audiences in its current location. However, I tend to agree with you that we must start somewhere in increasing the variety of our downtown entertainment offerings and plopping NMAAM at the end of Lower Broadway seems like a strong opportunity for Nashville if we manage to play our cards right.

Guys, while I disagree about his assertion that the NMAAM is poorly located on Broadway, FromParkAveToTN does have a fair point that some people of color don't find the Broadway environment to be particularly welcoming for a host of reasons. I've personally spoken to both new residents and visitors alike about this before multiple times and have seen tweets go viral from prominent black people on social media visiting our downtown that had no intention on ever visiting again. It's one of the reasons that you'll notice me continuously stressing and supporting expansion our entertainment offerings downtown beyond country music tourism with developments such as NMAAM. This is not something that we should continuously ignore just because it's an uncomfortable subject to broach.

Uniqlo would be a great alternative to H&M. They provide the full range of fast fashion like H&M, but their clothing tends to be better in quality and tailoring, IMO. I don't think they have entered Nashville-sized markets stateside yet, though.
Here's their Magnificent Mile store in Chicago.

Nice. The Joseph and this project look like they would compliment each other well.

It sounds like landing Oracle could potentially land us a new tallest tower as well. Any other spots where they could conceivably land downtown other than Nashville Yards?

It will be a silent rooftop bar where sophisticated Apple users will sip on Appletinis while listening to esoteric music through their AirPods while literally looking down on everyone.
This would basically be like Bonnaroo's Silent Disco with the added bonus of being able to eavesdrop on people down below with the Live Listen feature of the AirPods. I would kind of be here for it.

I have been thinking of the idea of the giant apple logo, cornerpiece of a shiny new downtown development, staring down the Honky Tonks of Broadway. I love the juxtaposition. A flagship Apple store across the street from a one-story honky tonk with a mural of all the country greats on the side. This will be the line of demarkation between the touristy "cowboy boots" part of Nashville, and the metropolitan city that is growing up around us.
I concur wholeheartedly. This will also quite literally be an "only in Nashville" type of setup for Apple.
As a Nashville native that has been somewhat critical of the heavy-handed focus towards country music tourism downtown as of late, this seems like a natural step towards the true maturation of downtown Nashville. It will also sit across from the arena which is also a modern structure that creates its own juxtaposition from Lower Broadway. So, I give little credence to any arguments that this Apple store won't "fit in."

I plan on directing a bunch of anger towards Beaman for not moving his dealership.
It's a colossal eyesore and will only look worse once this project finishes. I'm starting to wonder how much longer he's going to hold out. He must be receiving good offers for those car lots at this point. If he waits too much longer, it seems less likely he will be able to find another spot near the center of town for his dealerships when an offer he cannot refuse comes along. MetroCenter seemed like a logical spot for him to move to five years ago or so, but even that area is starting to see more construction activity now.

I have lots of thoughts on this subject, but perhaps a deeper discussion is better suited for a separate thread about how downtown Nashville entertainment options could evolve. I do feel that figuring out how to organically grow the entertainment options downtown to make them more appealing to a broader swath of people without diminishing Nashville's country music legacy will be a critical part of the city's maturation process.

I agree that hairstyle is quite a poor determinant of one's character. But to be fair, I think the dreads in this scenario are of the disaffected youth, drifter white kid variety... at least, that's generally my experience with that type. And let's be honest... if there were any hairstyle one could be excused for making negative assumptions about, I think it would be white person dreadlocks. Haha
Yes, I completely understood that everyone was primarily referring to wayward white youth with dreads. I just wanted to point out how some of these posts might read differently to others who are less familiar with Nashville's homeless population.

Guys, I work downtown and understand that you are referring to the specific look of many homeless people that currently hang around the parks, but please consider that not everyone reading this thread will have that experience and will raise their eyebrows when you make generalizations about people with dreads. The idea that hairstyles like dreads and braids are inherently unkept is a source of frustration for many in the black community particularly in a professional environment where our hair options are often quite limited yet heavily scrutinized by people unfamiliar with our hair. These hairstyles vary widely in methods and styles and are not always messy, unclean, or indicative of some nefarious element.

I immediately thought of Bridgestone's more adventurous kid sister as well. She's not a regular office building. She's a cool office building.
It will really feel like it's time to dramatically improve Stix and the roundabout after this is build.
