SWEET PEACHES! The Pis-tones pulled it off! This is kewl.
  2. The link that Allan provided is the best one for a housing search that I have come across. It's pretty extensive. For now, I would stay away from any property on Prentis and or 3rd Street. Beautiful old buildings, but not the greatest internally...meaning there's some shady activity that you can get caught up in. mn_body...what is your reason for moving to Detroit? Are you originally from here? I can help you find a place if you tell me a little about what your needs are. Will you be in school, have a job, a partner/friend to share the rent, parking?
  3. You won't find rent specials downtown because rental properties are not struggling to attract tenants. However, I received a special on my current Midtown apartment because the building I previously lived in is turning condominium. My current complex is one of the few highrises in Midtown that is for rent, and management knew it could attract displaced people from my old place if they threw in an incentive.
  4. The old Kresge Building (aka, House of 9) has a dumpster out front and new street-level boarding. I believe this is the next building to go if I recall correctly, and a dumpster out front usually means only one thing!
  5. I was down on Washington Blvd this evening and it looks to be coming along great! I love the new historic lighting (the tall lamp with the 4 surrounding lamps). It's little details like this (and the greening) that will set this area apart from the rest of downtown!
  6. Has anyone seen the DAY SPA sign as up-and-coming retail in the 1400 block of Merchant's Row? I'm guessing this one is new as I have not seen it until today. A day spa on Woodward? That's a great concept!
  7. No, the Compuware banners are only surrounding the building along its downtown block. Woodward Avenue will complete its transformation and beautification hopefully within the month, but regardless of when it's done, to answer your question, yes, the old will be replace with the new (to mimic the HISTORIC old). It all looks fantastic...Woodward, Washington, AND Broadway!
  8. Ah yes! Though it may be "Beverly Hills" on the inside, it's still a drive-through.

  10. Indeed! Water Month is almost over. I wish the power lines on Monroe would be burried already! By the way, when people say the Renaissance Center is removed from the city's skyline, I show them this photo: THANKS TO THE WATER BOARD BUILDING!

LIKE DIIS: *By the way, while out on my run, I ran down to the new extention of the prominade. It's open all the way down to Rivard now. If you go down there though, watch out for the seagull about midway through that is sitting on a nest of eggs. She's one moody b****!

I was just downtown running around this afternoon and stopped in at 1001. The office doors were closed, so I peered in to see the rendering of the garage. It wasn't the same one as I saw before, which made me nervous. Though, I saw it from far away, it looked different and not like the nice, textured, off-white stone rendering I originally saw. Hopefully, the original one will stand. Anyway, the guy's name is Pierre. He is VERY nice and is always willing to give out information to interested passer bys. Nice website find, Allan! From earlier this year... Floorplan layouts Views of the city

Yes, everyone who goes downtown, make sure you stop into the lobby at 1001 Woodward (the black skyscraper at Campus Martius). There is a rendering of the parking structure that is being constructed on the building's north side. It actually looks NICE...then again, it is a rendering, and could turn out to be a disaster. I'm taking the optimistic approach, and will be expecting a well-thought out structure that will flow with the revival of Lower Woodward/Campus Martius.
  14. Zissou, Cathedral Tower is actually pretty nice on the inside. The lobby area has been renovated and is nice, clean, and bright. The top floor (18) is also very nice. It has the laundary facilities, exercise room, a commons space with big-screen TV, and a large study area overlooking the city. The rooms are so-so. I have a studio and am cramped. The amenities even seem mini to an extent, but for what it's worth, I'm NOT complaining...just looking forward to the day when it's onward and upward.
  15. It's coincidence that you post these two places. I just recently moved from the Park Shelton to Cathedral Tower... In fact, here is the view from my room (I can see my windows in the photo you posted). and the laundary room...
