  1. Mears is already boycotting his properties. They will not send any convention business there. Everyone needs to do the same.
  2. I just heard through a friend that AMC Theaters backed out of the Plaza due to some fire wall rating that wasnt up to their requirements but I havnt seen anything about it here. ( I am currently in NY). Is it true?

I face Wallstreet too at the Solaire, on the 13th floor. Yes, it's loud on the balcony, but thank God for the double pane windows, it's not too bad in the unit.
  4. Orlando makes it as the #4 best place to start a biz: http://smallbusiness.aol.com/features/best...es-for-business
  5. Ouch! Things are not looking good.
  6. Home prices set for first drop in 40 years Forcast is for an additional 4.4% drop in prices in Orlando through April of 2008. http://money.cnn.com/2007/04/11/news/econo...oney_topstories

    pictures would have been nice
  9. Anyone use the parking lot at the Solaire yet? The enterance and exit are REALLY narrow. There are scuff marks all along the wall from cars hitting it. There is no way a tow truck can tow a car out if need be. Not going to fit. Also, it's going to be a nightmare for the residents to enter/leave when the movie theatre opens and the movies let out or start.
  10. Anyone have any idea what the numbers are for Orlando?
  11. I am also having my girlfriend move in with me but when we did the orientation, nothing was said about her not being able to use the biometric system or the transponder. In fact, the woman doing the orientation tried to set her up in the system, but as I said, it was down. I don't think they can discriminate against someone that is not listed on the deed. Good luck neighbor.
  12. Its a second home. I live in NY.
  13. I just closed on my 2/2, 13th floor facing lake eola last friday. Closing was smooth, but the orientation wasn't. They did not have my parking passes and the biometric fingerprint gizmo was down so they couldnt do it. I was told they were having problems getting it to work right. Still having issues with construcion problems including cracked granit in the kitchen. They tried to "fix" it with what looks like black magic marker and I guess they thought I would accept it. They need to tear all the granit out and replace it. An added bonus due to spinkler heads being so close to the windows, the developer is installing shear curtians in the units. If you had to pay for them since they are floor to ceiling, it would cost a few thousand dollars in the 2/2s. They are great in the living room, but are a problem in the second bedroom since they wont block all light if you want to sleep. You cannot install any other curtains due to the sprinklers. Dont know how to get around it. The view from my unit is amazing (until TT gets built)and I wish I had pictures to post but my girlfriend lost my camera right before we flew down for the closing.
  14. A few weeks ago I posted a note stating that my unit was listed for sale (she listed the unit number which has since been removed off her site. Now it just says the floor and the size) by that agent when in fact I never put it up for sale. As stated before , that list is BS.
  15. thanks, much appreciated
  16. Anyone have a direct phone number for the developer, Wood Partners. I am having problems dealing with the people in The Condo Store who are handling the sales and problems with my unit. They are being unresponsive. Thanks!
  17. Lucky guy! I had 82 items on my punch list! Make sure you check your front door and terrace door for gaps. Mine had almost an inch each on the bottom.
  18. Yes, the ceiling is exposed concrete with the sprinklers also exposed. Due to the sprinkler problem, the developer is now supposed to install shear curtains for all units (so I was told)
  19. I did my walk through last Friday. Many problems with my unit. The granit counters in the kitchen were chipped. Due to changes by the city, they had to install sprinkler heads right next to the floor to ceiling windows in the living room and you are not allowed to install curtains because they will block the sprinkler heads. Many doors are not installed properly with huge gaps on the bottom of the front door and terrace door. Also, there is writing on the concrete ceiling which is in the concrete and they are saying they will not not do anything about it. I did not pay almost $400K to have graffiti on my ceilings.
  20. Is that unit on the #15 stack? If so, its the same one as mine. Great views!
  21. I'm on lucky 13. My walk though and close is supposed to be at the end of the month. Also, my mortgage broker told me that the building is having problems getting insurance which is causing the closing delays.
  22. I would love to know where these rumors start. I said it before and I'll say it again, I will buy any unit that anyone wants to back out of. Units are listed at about 40% over pre-construction prices at solairecondosforsale.com.
  23. I thought you were kidding around, but I guess you werent. My condos are MY business, not yours. You could have bought one just like I did, and guess what, someone will be living in my condo, a renter who deserves to live downtown like anyone else. Because of developers turning rental buildings into condos, there is a huge shortage of rentals downtown. I do not buy my condos to flip. I never sold a single unit to this day. To say that someone that invests does not care about the building is insane. If the building goes down the tubes, so does your investment. I also bought with the intention of keeping one for myself. But, why do I have to expain myself to you or anyone. Cry your sour grapes socialist BS on someone elses shoulders.
  24. You hurt my feelings. That's it, I'm leaving the forum never to return.
  25. I havent had to find a tenant yet (my other unit in TPC was already rented and I kept the current tenant). I plan on advertising in The Sentinel and Orlando Weekly. My friend owns many properties in Orlando and that what he does. He also has connections with a company that does background checks on potential tenants. I find the convention in Flordia where the landlord pays real estate agents to find tenants distastful and I refuse to do it. Here in New York the tenant pays the fee and therfore you get listed with all of them for free.
