  1. Looks a helluva lot better than the vacant lot and run down house that was there before. Nice work Eric! Are rents in line with the rest of the block or does the new build mean higher rents? Just trying to get an understanding of why it may not be filling up as quickly as your other renovated buildings along the stretch. Look forward to seeing this space filled in coming months.
  2. Anna's House suing Meritage over their new concept.... https://mibiz.com/sections/small-business/lawsuit-alleges-meritage-took-anna-s-house-concept-after-deal-talks-stalled
  3. ^^^Saw that the other day.^^^ Fulton Market is on fire. Herman Miller in fact is moving their showroom out of Merchandise Mart to Fulton Market. Bold move, since pretty much everyone in contract furniture is at the mart. Now back to Medical Mile....
  4. The question is are they scaling back or scaling up? S...L...O...W moving project.
  5. I really like the proportions of this new building - the height of the first floor is well done . The street level will have a nice presence.
  6. Agreed. I hope the idea is not to just "fix up" the warehouse to warehouse people. It will be interesting to see the plans. EDIT: I guess the Press article does state they are constructing a building,.... This could also be a catalyst for moving forward with the Ionia linear park. This would be a great direct biking and walking route to Spectrum's hospital campus.
  7. An 8 minute walk from Amway Grand and 6 minute walk from AC hotel. Not bad, not great. But its not all about the hotels. I've thought the 20 E Fulton would be a good spot, especially if the parking ramp attached was open to customers. Great visibility/frontage. I also like ctpgr34's idea at base of 5/3 building. CWD has plans to reconfigure that area. BTW., is this the best place to discuss a pharmacy?
  8. Here's the scoop, as I reached out to Hinman: The first 3 floors are made with a special sand mix concrete to simulate limestone. Floors 4 - 13 are made with standard concrete. Next summer, before the project is complete we will put on a high performance coating that will closely match the limestone look of the first 3 floors. So, I guess it will be "painted." Not sure what coating they will use, but here is something that I would suspect is probable. http://usscproducts.com/specialty-coatings/concrete-protective-coatings/lithium-concrete-coating-cosi-/p/287/416
  9. MDOT would like to build fex lanes on 131, north of downtown Grand Rapids, similar to what they did on US 23 north of Ann Arbor, but funding is an issue. An additional lane is much needed north of Grand Rapids. https://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/2019/10/busy-stretch-of-us-131-in-grand-rapids-a-candidate-for-flex-route.html

  11. Yes , outdoor plans still on docket, and it appears that they are moving forward from your pic.
  12. I think you are over analyzing, which I tend to do myself. I don't think rendering looks different, maybe the angle of your pic?
  13. The Michigan Strategic Fund board today awarded Acrisure a Good Jobs for Michigan tax capture plan valued at $6 million, the first such award in the Grand Rapids area under the program. As well, the board approved a $1 million performance-based grant under the Michigan Business Development Program for the Acrisure project, in which the company plans to invest up to $33 million to move its global headquarters to the new downtown Studio Park development. https://mibiz.com/sections/real-estate-development/acrisure-awarded-7-million-in-incentives-for-downtown-grand-rapids-hq-project

  17. Little Goat is kind of a gourmet diner....And it's really good. I would not be surprised to see Paul Lee bring this diner concept up a level.

  20. Mark Sellers' Tiki Bar and Restaurant is set to open October 19th. Third floor tiki-themed hotel rooms to open in 2020. https://www.grbj.com/articles/94293-downtown-tiki-bar-schedules-opening https://maxstiki.com/
  21. Cornerstone University's Christian radio station, WCSG will vacate the former Grand Rapids Township fire station they've occupied for decades. Construction is underway the former Reformed Baptist Church building on the NW corner of Bradford and the Beltline. Wonder if they will try to sell the old fire station property that fronts a prime spot right on the Beltline or reuse? My guess is they will retain the property. https://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/2019/09/cornerstone-university-breaks-ground-on-new-57m-wcsg-radio-station.html
  22. The replacement for the Twister Rooster, Morning Belle, is set to open on 9.26. I think they are trying this concept considering Anna's House success in this arena. https://www.grmag.com/food-drink/morning-belle-schedules-opening/
  23. The Kids Food Basket is open, and is a nice addition to the NE side. As I said before, glad to see this property that was a family farm for decades, continue in the capacity as a part of the overall plan. https://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/2019/09/new-kids-food-basket-75m-facility-allows-it-to-serve-more-students-meals.html
