Is there room in this development for an IKEA? With the Century Farms Development Firm (Oldacre McDonald) connected to this project, I wouldn't be surprised if they were/are in talks with IKEA if space is available. Nashville’s first IKEA was announced in 2017 then cancelled in 2018 was to be located in Century Farms. Nashville, Raleigh and Glendale were the 3 Stores cancelled in 2018 by IKEA. I've used the Nashville Pick Up location and had a great experience! Ikea made their expansion announcement back in April. I was expecting location announcements this mid summer. If Nashville is on the expansion list, what part of town would you guess for a new location? I'm thinking the northern or eastern part of the city. It looks like the Century Farms site (where they were going to build) has been taken.

The spot where Ikea was going to be built is still empty. It's the northwest corner of the Hickory Hollow exit. I did notice while driving down to Murfreesboro last week that that land is being leveled which I thought was interesting. My guess is Ikea would not build a store in Williamson County because of land value. Their sites are huge! If the land is now taken in Century Farms, I think traveling out I40 East would be where they would consider maybe into Wilson County. Also the Northwest corner of Rutherford County. The 3 Stores Ikea cancelled in 2018 were Nashville, Cary (Raleigh), North Carolina and Glendale, Arizona.

"Ikea stores coming soon to 8 new US locations" ... Ikea announced yesterday expansion for the comping years in the US. Don't know if you remember back in 2017, Ikea announced they were building a store in Nashville at the Century Farms development (Hickory Hollow exit). The store was to open in 2020 Ibelieve. In 2018 they pulled the plug along with 2 other locations saying they were no longer building big box stores. Ikea does have a pick up spot off of Murfreesboro Road now. What are the odds of Ikea coming to Nashville now? They did say their focus now is on the East and West Coast ... and also the South.

I've heard the same from some reliable sources about Pottery Barn's move from the mall in the early 2000s. We had a long conversation with one of Pottery Barn's managers on Christmas Eve. Asked them about the move of William Sonoma into the former space of Pottery Barn Kids. Turns out most customers who buy from Pottery Barn Kids buy online, so William Sonoma saw an opportunity to move into the Hill Center. Made perfect sense to me. The Manager also mention that the Green Hill Mall was really focusing on bring "Boutique" and "Unique" Stores to the center. I'm guessing mainly stores that have no other location in the area (excluding 2 of the anchor stores ;Macy's and Dillard's). Heck! I'm still waiting for a permanent See's Candy Store! LOL William Sonoma Corporation has to be very happy to have 3 of their brands in the same center, West Elm, WS and PB.

I laugh each time I drive by the location when looking at the end unit closes to Franklin Road . Who in their right mind would buy a home facing a Gas Station Sign? LOL Witness close up daily changing gas prices! Goodness!
