Like you, my intel is from someone with direct dealings to leasing and real estate transactions with Simon Properties. Their intel has led to nearly all of the announcements that have happened over the past year at SouthPark Mall. I'm hopeful you are correct, and I'm just thrown off the scent, but I've never been misled by them before.

Pre Covid there was talk of a new aquatic recreation center being built on this school bus parking lot. Sigh, covid killed so many projects that would have gotten rid of parking lots.

I'm sure this is going to be great, but I wish they had invested in more mature trees, you know they could have just moved a bunch around on property. These photos look like Shade will be hard to come by.

By the way I spoke to the architect of the buildng, and the pattern on the parking deck as well as the fins added onto the glass is meant to represent textile design, and Charlotte's history as a cotton and textile center. Actually gave me a new found appreciation for the building and I asked him, "Why aren't your marketing people talking about that?" Also Side Note: I'm hearing this building is getting lots of positive tenant tours, and should hopefully be announcing some tenants soon!

Hilton Curio and Indigo Hotel have both been linked to adaptive re-use hotels in Charlotte that have not materialized in the past (Tryon Plaza and Hall House). I would LOVE to see a 21C here, thats my preference.
