For what its worth, My pet peeve is people calling it Lawson's Fork Creek. The correct name is Lawson's Fork. There's no "creek" involved. It's the same concept as Four Mile Branch. it's not a. creek, its a branch. Or, more formally, it was historically labeled as "Lawson's Fork of the Pacolet River."

I think you've lost that battle. Even the USGS refers to it as Lawsons Fork Creek. Although all of the road signs read "Lawson Fork Creek" with no 's' at the end of Lawson (just to confuse everyone, I assume).

Aren't they also about to change the traffic pattern out there?  haven't they been installing a new or temp road for that?

They're using the new entrance road already as shown in this graphic:

  3. As far as I can see, there is some light earthwork being done in the area of the now-demolished section of the county office building and some dirt work going on across the street. Also, it seems like they're in the process of gutting what's left of the old county building because piles of debris are appearing outside the doors.

228,238 passengers for GSP in August 2023 which is 21.70% higher than in August 2022 where the airport had 187,553 passengers.

2023 is currently pacing about 97.6% of the 2019 peak through August.

  5. Work began this week on the project to widen the sidewalk along Heywood Avenue to connect the River Birch Trail to Beverly Road (and thus the Lower Drayton Mills Trail). Seems like it's going to be a pretty quick project since they're already pouring concrete for the section closest to Beverly Road.

That reminds me: does anyone have a map (or know where one is) that shows the exact boundaries of this "Downtown Development District"?

Not a map but during the meeting Chris Story described it as being bounded by Pine Street to the east, Daniel Morgan Avenue to the north, Henry Street to the south, and the train tracks to the west.

On top of that, there’s not a single office building currently under construction in Greenville or its suburbs, Tollison added

Isn't a bank currently building its headquarters in the form of an office building (with attached bank)? Or are they not counting office buildings built by and for the tenant?

For parking, reserve your spot on the website. You save a few bucks doing it. I got jipped this weekend because I reserved it, but the QR Code didn't work and just took a ticket. Coming out this morning, the QR code still wasn't working so I had to pay the $54 for Garage A. So I paid $48 for Reserve then that. I emailed them and they are refunding me the $48 because "Lightning hit the garage and took out the system" ((Which I don't believe lol)). But this was the only problem. The other 5-6 times I've used it, it's worked perfect.

The license plate reader/QR code did not work for me as well this week (with Economy Lot 2) but I just hit the call button, told them my name, and they let me in and out of the lot.

Just for kicks I put in 4 tickets from here to ILG for July at $29 apiece. The total for that was $116. However, at check out, I noticed that it was $239; taxes and fees cost more than the tickets. I get that $29 is a giveaway price and 4 tickets for $116 is crazy good, but somehow it seems like a bait and switch when the taxes are more than the tickets.

Just did the same and the price was exactly as advertised. Round trip, $29 each way, final price was $58 after taxes and fees. Sounds like you chose a few "extras" like...seats or bags (you can skip all).

I'm guessing someone has chartered that plane to fly out of GSP tomorrow and you'll see it leave with a 63XX flight number.

Looks like it's flying to Charlottesville as a charter and the Virginia women's basketball team just played at Clemson tonight. I'd say that's your mystery answer

There’s a Breeze plane landing at GSP tonight:

    https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n120bz/#2f4e75bc

    The plot thickens.

Based on what I can tell with their flight numbers and the locations, the 64XX flight numbers are when they're positioning planes for charters. Then the actual charters fly with 63XX flight numbers.

For instance, the plane that landed at GSP was used by the University of Virginia's basketball team to fly from Charlottesville to Bedford, MA for their game against Boston College yesterday (educated guess). The plane then returned to Charlottesville with the 63XX flight number and then when they moved it back to Norfolk, VA (which is one of their actual airports and likely where they base that plane) they used the 64XX flight number.

I'm guessing someone has chartered that plane to fly out of GSP tomorrow and you'll see it leave with a 63XX flight number.

(They use the same number schemes to fly the University of Nebraska basketball team, for instance https://flightaware.com/live/flight/MXY6310/history/20230215/0430Z/KEWR/KLNK - this is the flight when they returned to Lincoln from playing Rutgers)

Sorry, I may have ruined the fun. 🙃

Saw a notice in the paper today about alcohol permits for Tacos & Bla Bla Bla at 1802 Drayton Road (Drayton Marketplace).  It's a local chain with several locations in Greenville county.  Not sure which space they'll take within the marketplace (but I'd guess Suite 135a between Holliday and Pi-Squared).

Was picking up pizza at Pi Squared this weekend and they already have a large sign up on the side of the building (next to the ones for Holliday and Pi-Squared) but I didn't see one up at any of the doors yet.

  13. Honestly, could be a big regional draw for the area since there's nothing quite like it anywhere close.

What else would they do with the theater? It's not really going to be able to compete with the Peace Center being so close.

  14. I can't imagine a scenario where widening E. Main Street would EVER be a good idea. People just need to move on from "widen this." All it does is induce MORE demand. So instead of having a busy 4 lane road (with turn lanes), you have a busy 6 lane road (with turn lanes). The only option is to find alternative ways to alleviate traffic. Whether that includes new roads elsewhere or public transit or walking/biking infrastructure, that's up to figuring out exactly who is on the road and where they are going and for what purpose to find the best option.

Not sure how accurate this is, but someone said ROSS is moving into that space and the Ross space was going to be something else. Can't remember for the life of me what they said was going there.
I guess we'll know soon enough.

I've heard rumors of a Hobby Lobby but I cannot remember where I heard it.

Sign now up on site of phase II at Falls and Webster Streets:

Doesn't look like it's anything good, at least for now, according to the Voluntary Cleanup Contract:

"D. Proposed Redevelopment: UCB plans to acquire the Property and develop it as surface parking for its new corporate headquarters office and a retail branch planned for construction on an adjacent property."

...so...they're going to turn the parking lot into...a parking lot that they own!
