Anybody know what's going on with the materials stacked up in the empty lot behind Edgeline Flats apartments? Corner of N Davidson St and E 16th St.

I have wondered this as well.  Given the lack of ground work on the site, I assume this is just a staging area for the apartment complex around Birdsong.

Regarding the park, I respectfully disagree. I referenced the NFL stadium because the costs are similar (which you confirmed), albeit the park wouldn't have a billionaire funding a third of the cost. That said, the park would be a multi-generational treasure and accessible to ALL Charlotteans (and not a monument to a billionaire's ego) . Spreading that throughout the city would not have the same impact. Adding a Fairmont Park, Balboa Park, Millennium Park, etc., to Charlotte would be well worth the cost. No great city would sell their best park for $2B so we shouldn't hesitate to invest a similar amount to build one here.

I agree.  Not to mention the density this would encourage.  I imagine there would be a ton of condo's surrounding the park.

Why is that?  Do LA Galaxy Fans roll deep like Georgia Bulldogs Football fans?  Anyway - I plan to have two tickets up in the Nosebleed section come March 5th…..  Doing my part….

Because the capacity of the other stadiums are lower.  The two biggest teams from an attendance standpoint are Atlanta United, which currently hold all ten of the top attendance records at a capacity of 73,019 and the Seattle Sounders at 68k.  BOA has a capacity of >74k so if they convince enough people that this is a chance to be a part of history and not just a soccer game on a cold night in March, they can break the record.  The tickets are priced reasonably enough so we shall see.

Is it me or is this overall very underwhelming. Like I could pass this by, which I’m have and thought, oh this place looks old and needs to update. I literally passed it the other day and thought wow, did they even start on renovations yet.

It was a rather small, inexpensive update.  That said, I like that they kept the stone wall.  It is a perfect smaller stadium for the Independence, HS, and potentially CLT FC USOC games.

Wondering what happened to the @TRUISTsignage Twitter account? “This account has been suspended and will not be restored.” No doubt Truist reported it. I filed an appeal in compliance with what Twitter said needed to be changed in the name and bio. No luck. Got taken down for impersonating a sign... lol. Thanks, Truist! Making a great first impression on your new HQ city. Truist: destroyer of architecture AND humor.

Whoever is in charge of the petition, feel free to mention this and use the screenshot.

I think you just need to add "Parody" to a new account.

I found this thread when researching the Belmont and Optimist Park neighborhoods a new home and was hoping to get some insights from current neighbors.

I'd love opinions on two specific new construction developments.  Looking at either the Ryan Parkwood Square townhomes at Parkwood/16th or the CityScape Towns townhomes on Siegle/Van Every.  I know the train is right behind Van Every... but I don't know how often it usually runs or how loud it is...  vs. being on Parkwood, which is a much busier street.   Can anyone share opinions on what location you think is better?

I live in this neighborhood.  The train runs much more regularly than I assumed, although I can't give you specific intervals because I don't live close enough to hear it.   Somewhere between 5 & 12 per 24 hours?  I think both will be nice locations that become more walkable.  Seigle will definitely be less trafficked as it is not easily connected to uptown.  Not sure that helps but my $.02.

I'm not certain he will. The non soccer specific stadium is definitely an obstacle with MLS ownership.  Although add Chicago to a list of MLS teams moving into an NFL stadium as of today's announcement with the lease agreement with their current venue.

I don't think this is true anymore.  The bottom of the league (attendance) primarily have one thing in common.  They play in the suburbs.   The future of the league is likely dual-purpose stadiums that are larger but built with both football and soccer in mind and are located in the city center.

I think @ricky_davis_fan_21 is right but it will take slightly longer than that.
