  1. I know people who fought at Benghazi, do you? Are you trying to claim that Charlotte isnt a southern city? Did global warming..... im sorry...... climate change...... cause the US to shift towards the northern end of the globe?? Or was it the Trump tax cuts?
  2. Yes im sure masked communists are definitely what will make more people sympathize with their movement.
  3. You are being "deepingly" emotional....... What you posted doesn't make any sense but will get you a few participation upvotes from your fellow leftists I see, and in todays culture...... thats all that matters. I think it could have used a few more buzz words myself. Heres some facts for you....... SF poop map. Im sure Charlotte has some talented devs that can make a great app for us too if we become progressive like SF! https://www.sfgate.com/local/article/map-street-sidewalk-poop-feces-311-report-waste-13278828.php Liberal cities declining.... https://thehill.com/opinion/finance/384536-the-great-exodus-out-of-americas-blue-cities Now you try!
  4. Its a surprise because a lot of the people here despise anyone who works at a bank or corporate setting. There is the "banker bro" stereo type that many ppl run with on here that comes across as insecure jealousy. Think what you may, but the facts are that the companies and white collar workers you all hate are what drives growth in this city. This will always be a banking city and if it wasnt it would be no different than Greensboro today. I guess it makes sense that there is tons of negativity on this forum and lots of bad ideas. What also concerns me are the leftists fleeing their liberal utopias they created by the hundreds of thousands and fleeing to nice southern cities like Charlotte. Mainly I am hoping that in 10 years we dont need an app that tracks human waste on side walks like they have in SF..... cause tolerance and stuff.
  5. I hate to break it to you but he wont be indicted when he leaves office in 2024...... yes the far left and media have all but guaranteed his reelection with the stunts of the past 2 years. Trump has done pretty much nothing for his base yet the left instead focuses on conspiracy theories and lies. Not to mention demonizing anyone who dares have different beliefs/ideas than them. But if you want to cling to hope for something that wont happen for the next 5 years then have at it. I don't see this as some sort of victory for me. I didn't vote for Trump and he wont get my vote in 2020. I was a Rand Paul supporter in 2016 and now I am supporting Tulsi Gabbard now whom the left is racist towards and smears for being anti-war. I still think most of the liberals here are confused and still haven't processed what happened in 2016. It was supposed to be "her turn". Me on the other hand, I am grateful of the checks and balances our government has and know that 1 man cannot bring on Armageddon. I wasn't a fan of Obama but couldn't bring myself to vote for McCain or Romney, but I didn't develop a derangement syndrome and start lashing out at every Obama supporter I saw. I think some of you spend way too much time in your echo chambers. In 2024 Trump will be out of office and if the left can get their act together, maybe we will have a Democrat back in office one day. On a side note, I do find it surprising that a forum about business and development would have such a large far left contingent.
  6. Doesn't surprise me the goal posts have been moved. I am enjoying the meltdowns and retreating to safe spaces though, a few liberals I work with have been walking around looking like their gold fish died. Reddit is a salt mine right now. Maybe people will learn that Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah arent real news sources now.
  7. Nobody has come on here to eat their crow yet?? At least some of you don't have to check under your bed for Russians before you go to sleep now.
  8. LOL thats an email to endorse a candidate and tear down his opponent. Its how primaries work.......
  9. Shouldn't the "retail" in these buildings cater towards the people who these buildings were actually built for? That's why a gym is a great idea. Don't really care about someone who doesn't live/work in Uptown needing to buy a v-neck t-shirt while they are spending an afternoon in Uptown.
  10. Yea it was just like the time Hillary Clinton was ducking sniper fire in Bosnia! I am indifferent towards NASCAR but I love how its perfectly ok to paint everyone involved in NASCAR whether it be fan or 'athlete' as a racist. Yet it is unacceptable to say the CIAA events can attract some unsavory characters. I guess your bigotry is divine.
  11. So your anecdotal evidence is every "person of colors" truth? There is a huge problem with putting everyone into categories and assuming their outlook/feelings/opinions based on what boxes you choose to put them in.
  12. Im sure if you go to anywhere with a chip on your shoulder you will find or invent some reason to justify it. Also lol at preaching open mindedness and then calling all Americans morons. You must have a gold medal in mental gymnastics.
  13. Maybe you missed the uproar there was when it was announced that the RNC was coming to town. Haphazardly throwing around accusations of racism doesn't strengthen your argument and you are pretty much generalizing an entire city. The criticism that the CIAA gets is very minimal in my opinion. If CPAC was held here and some 'right wing' nut job attending the event fired 100 rounds in Uptown striking peoples homes and cars, the event would never be welcomed back. The CIAA always takes the easy way out and says "well its not an officially sanctioned event" and everyone goes on with their day. Also, I have never seen anyone criticize the tournament itself, the schools, or the players. Its the element that comes along, these rappers that are playing war in our city streets should not be welcomed. The guy who was the target of the 100 rounds was back in Charlotte the next year ready for war with his bullet proof vehicles. If I had a family, why would I risk their safety knowing what can happen when two feuding rappers cross paths in uptown Charlotte? Also I love the undertone of your message, you are basically saying its ok for you to generalize people and still maintain victim status. Even if you dont make racist comments (where?) you are still racist because you must secretly support it. If thats how you really feel then theres really no way to have a productive dialogue with you.
  14. I haven't ever seen anybody argue the second point.
  15. As of Jan 2019. CMPD says they are understaffed by 180 officers. But CMPD could be wrong according to some here...... https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/cmpd-still-short-roughly-180-officers-looking-to-attract-millenials/905432538 Let the down votes commence.
  16. https://www.wsoctv.com/news/9-investigates/9-investigates-cmpd-officers-take-on-secondary-jobs-because-of-low-pay/820608763 I'm sorry but lol @ using Glassdoor as a source. Also one pay raise cant instantly fix low morale and burned out officers. After the riots here a few years ago I cant blame an officer if he/she wants to take a more passive approach to doing their job. Law Enforcement did less policing in Baltimore for the same reasons and the murder rate exploded. Mark Michalec, president of the Fraternal Order of Police, said that while many officers like having the option of a secondary employer, some have to work extra because of low pay at CMPD. “We are being overworked,” Michalec said. “We need to get more officers in here, better pay, better benefits.” I dont have any kind of political axe to grind. Its not my fault most of the demonizing of police and military generally comes from one side of the aisle. Have you ever gone to war or worked a shift in a high crime area and then read the news and see your profession demonized?
  17. Not really surprising. Charlotte has some very 'progressive' City Council members views police as domestic terrorists so I am not surprised they are understaffed, underfunded, and probably have low morale.
  18. I'm failing to see what is wrong with the post or the replies..... Unless the father decides to put on a cape take up crime fighting in the evening there is really nothing else to do besides move. People are way too sensitive these days.
  19. So you want to pay him $20 million to back up Cam? Makes sense. Lets give the guy who lost his starting job to Blaine Gabbert starting QB money.
  20. I guess in a perfect Urban Planet world, there would be no parking deck and the workers would commute from their affordable housing or housing project on their kale powered scooters.
  21. So half standing skeleton structures like Ally and the dirt lot that is FNB will have more of an impact to a small sports ball crowd than another 18 months of progress and what promises to be the most entertaining and watched election cycle in American history?
  22. What is it like living with Trump Derangement Syndrome? I didnt like Obama for handcuffing troops with insane rules of engagement that actually cost many lives. But it wasn't hatred that consumed me and made me have a break down every time I saw him on tv or want to assault someone for wearing an Obama hat.
  23. I think its just a case of following the Urban Planet crowd or some kind of hipster thing. Everyone I talk to in person loves this building and it will complement the skyline well when the entire lot is built up along with the new Duke building.
  24. Ah yes the 'systemic' marginalization........ I realized from lurking here for a little over a year or so that this is a left leaning board but still respect the opinions/knowledge of most when it comes to architecture/business/projections etc etc but it is pretty clear most here live in a rosey bubble and have no idea how the "poor and marginalized" live. It could be the bigotry of low expectations or maybe just disinformation like the rent slide above that looks like it was plucked off Facebook or some chain email. I grew up in multiple foster homes and was out on the street at 17. I walked into a military recruiting office and it changed my life. Just because someone doesn't have access to a college education right after high school doesn't mean they wont succeed. Even Amazon is paying more than double the minimum wage and will hire just about anyone. I know an ex-felon who now owns his own business and lives an upper middle class life. There are many different factors as to why an individual will fail or succeed and its not because of the millennials who live in apartments with granite counter tops or because someone posts something against the allowed group-think on Urban Planet.
