  1. As awful as that would be, it still probably isn't as bad as "Real Carolina". Real Salt Lake really is the dumbest name in sports. All that said, it almost doesn't matter what the team name is, I will almost definitely get season tickets.
  2. I think this could be a great idea. Reach out to the Elizabeth Community Association. And/or reach out to the people at Talking Walls. They put on the mural exhibit where they invite different street artists to put up murals around the city. It could be interesting if different artists all did different takes on different Elizabeths. In LA people line up to take a pic in front of a wall with wings, why not snap a pic with a random Elizabeth.
  3. This is awesome news. MLS would be incredible for Charlotte and Tepper hiring a former City exec means it would probably be done well. A while ago I stumbled upon someone coming up with concept ideas for a potential MLS team. This person has way better design ability than me and I, for one, would be all in for this Racing Carolina concept: https://soccernsweettea.com/racing-carolina-a-mls4clt-concept-by-brandon-robinson-1bb061d40b50
  4. It's a bar so hopefully this will get people to not drive there and worry about parking/driving home drunk. With Uber now it is so easy to get places when drinking, why would you drive to the bar even if there is plenty of parking? The Charlotte Agenda article on the Crunkleton talked about how bad the parking is there, but maybe that's a good thing. When I went I saw non-stop ubers dropping people off. As a side note, this is also walking distance from a lot of the midtown apartments so that could help fill seats without worrying about parking.
  5. I live in Skyhouse. The building itself is pretty nice, but it really only makes sense for a certain demographic (25-27 and younger). If you go to the pool on weekends it is a frat party. This can be really fun, but is also not what everyone is looking for. The dog park on top of the parking deck is great. Our biggest complaint with the building itself is that elevators break CONSTANTLY. It is not unusual for all 3 elevators to be broken at the same time. Not ideal if you live 23 floors up... The neighborhood is also...ok. There isn't much there yet. Part of why Ascent can charge more is that it is surrounded by more things and is more heavily trafficked. Right now there isn't anything north of 7th in Uptown except for Skyhouse. 10 Tryon/Publix and ideally something with Hal Marshall would have a transformative effect.
  6. I got an email that there was a community meeting with the Historic Landmarks Commission this morning on the proposed Memorial Stadium rehabilitation. Did anyone here go?
  7. When the 2020 streetcar is done (assuming it gets done) and runs through Elizabeth to PM, do people think development along the line in Elizabeth will be significant? Specifically with respect to it running down Hawthorne to PM. Right now its mostly homes and some light commercial after the hospital. Do you think the area around where Sabor/Hawthorne Pizza are will see an increase in density?
  8. Bump. Has anyone heard an update on 10 Tryon/Publix?
