  1. I'm all for citizen suggestions but this "public input" always worries me. Let's be honest, most people are generally ignorant when it comes to things like this. You will always get the "Don't do anything and use the money for the schools and teachers" or "I want to just have a giant park for my kids and dogs to play". I mean honestly, if all the NIMBY's had it their way DT Norfolk would look like a botanical gardens with swing sets and plywood stand-ins for kiddy pictures.

  2. I would like to see other views of this new design before making a decision...but it does look much better in that picture.  Attached garages off to the side takes away from the whole look of the building in my opinion. I'm assuming it's not all parking since it states there is a mixed use component. Why not blend them all together and give us a 30+ story tower as the "Gateway" into DT Norfolk.

  3. I am so thankful that everything went great!!! This is a huge boost to our image and economy. If VB or Norfolk could get an arena off the ground, Friday would have still went on without any issues. Though, we will probably never have an arena that will hold 50K-80K but SITW wouldn't have lost a day of entertainment.

  4. I think the "campus" statement is bigger news than the 60 warehouse job creation. If the build out by Buddy goes well we may have a headquarters move in the near future. I'm sure it's cheaper to do business in Va versus NJ. Sounds similar to what Atlanta and Norfolk Southern pulled on Norfolk. Obviously, this is not a F500 company but...

  5. Again, all of this would have been a non-issue if they would have extended LRT to the OF. Then create north/south transfer station at Pacific and whatever for BRT. Have the BRT run the loop down Pacific and up Atlantic with multiple stops/stations along the way. Would look and feel better planned out and more upper tier city planning.

Just like Amazon...we offered a sand castle. For a huge festival that could put VB on the entertainment map...we offer school buses.

    Just added Chris Brown.

Seeing what is going on in South Beach right now...hope we aren't in for the same. Buckle up VB...

I truly do hope and pray this works out for VB and HR.

  7. I truly hope the city doesn't allow this to become the norm in this district. We will end up with sea of these things resembling Port Warwick in NN. While Port Warwick isn't bad...just don't think it belongs next to a CBD that will soon have a blank canvas to work from. Norfolk has the opportunity to do very big things in this district and just "okaying" anything is not the answer.

  8. Much better report

I found it funny at the opening Alan Smith (reporter) flew into DT Ports....only to point at the city hall building and river, that's it. Thought they had some  hi-tech CGI of buildings being constructed. Sorry, just found it humorous and completely unnecessary.

  9. Staff writer Ana Ley either suspects something or is an aspiring investigative journalist. She tries very hard to paint corruption and/or backdoor deals into this piece. This should probably just be positive development news for Portsmouth...but it's the Va. Pilot.
