SouthPark says that all but one space is filled within the mall and that they have tenants waiting for more space to become available.
I think this really highlights that there is definitely still a space for "premium" malls with high-end stores and top amenities.
I frequently hear from folks that they are "going to South Park today" and will window-shop or buy a luxury item. On the other hand they'll just order online or go to the Outlet mall if shopping for lower-end/every-day clothing.

So what is going on with your local companies?
Non-bank financial services here.
Two days per week in-office is our new requirement. In reality uptake has been....low, but sounds like management will start turning the screws over the next month or two.
I'm personally fine with hybrid and do feel a positive impact from being co-located with people I am working with. However, my NY/NJ colleagues are irate. There will be a lot of pressure on our company as folks leave for remote opportunities and we remain painfully understaffed in key areas.

Who remembers this plane that camr to CLT on a few occasions? It doesn't exist anymore due to the cowardness of the United States government. It was destroyed by the Russian forces. Not to blame only one person in the government that people want to blame but the government as a whole is what I blame. It is only a machine. Many people are dieing in the Ukraine because of cowardness of government of the United States and Europe. Only now do the all pretend to be strong with their sanctions that will not stop the murders of the people in Ukraine. Every nation fears one person in the world. Vladimir Putin. It is proven to be undeniable. Prove me wrong. How can one person control the word that is so horrible. Vladimir Putin is equal as Adolf Hitler. The United States will not out of fear to do something about it unless the United States is Force to do something. I hope that we will do something without being forced as cowards but I believe it will be the only way. America only picks on small countries but coward down to countries less than half the population. Lol.
Shame about the plane.
However, please explain what else the US should do to "do something" that DOESN'T end in a nuclear war?

Is that because Charlotte and Raleigh are heat islands? Greensboro is also rainier and windier than either.
Top 20 U.S. Cities for Affordable Homes & Year-Round Weather1 Charlotte, NC 109 63 46 58.2 6.4 29% 2 Raleigh, NC 111 73 44 55.74 6.5 21% 3 Columbus, GA 110 37 78 66.21 6.1 16% 4 Mobile, AL 102 21 76 55.24 7.5 22% 5 Greensboro, NC 109 81 34 61.72 7.1 23% Greensboro is tucked in closer to the Appalachians. A lot of our weather in the Piedmont of NC is driven by Cold Air Damming (CAD) creating a "wedge" of cold air. Essentially, relatively shallow cold air is pushed out of the NE against the eastern side of the Appalachians. Since Greensboro is closer to the mountains that are funneling cold air down out of the NE, it takes longer for this effect to break down than in Raleigh or Charlotte. This type of weather is also associated with damp, wet weather during the fall, winter, and spring, causing more average rainfall as well.

Today I got in what will likely be my last trip to the Midnight Diner in its current location.
Not sure I'll make it to Uptown Cab on the other hand, or at least I won't say so on a semi-public forum.....

I'll set the over/under on attendance at the ACC Championship game on Saturday night at 24,000 (butts in seats, not ticket sales). Who's taking the under?
Saw the fanfest Uptown tonight and it was a little...sparse.

A random lady I spoke with on the checkout line asked about Charlotte (where I live) and if it had grown to over 1 Million People. I said not yet but probably in the next 4 or 5 years at the current rate of growth. Did i lie to her? Whats your estimate for when the City Limits Population cracks 1 Million?
Depends on how optimistic you are, but it's potentially true. We did slow down our rate of growth in the past census, but given COVID issues it's a bit of a ???? until 2030.
If I had to pick one year only I'd say 2027, but we'll never 100% *truly* know the exact year.

Has anyone else noticed a really significant decline in food/service quality at Bojangles in the past year or so? (relatively speaking, of course)
I've always had better luck with Bojangle's out in the countryside.

Spoiler......he names 917(!) cities.......including 32 of the 33 most populous. Guess which one he didn't get.
In the comments: “The largest city you forgot was Charlotte, but that’s okay, I’d forget Charlotte, too.” —Raleigh
Watching him rip through the Chicago suburbs (like 80 of them?!) is amazing
Honestly a lot of fun: https://iafisher.com/projects/cities/usa
I was proud of getting over 400!

Having grown up in northern wisconsin and knowing a good number of yoopers, most seem to think of themselves more as Wisconsinites anyway!
I would disagree, but I come from a family of yooper Packers fans!
In all seriousness, I'm interested to see how different the actual "official" 2020 numbers are vs. the 2020 census estimate. Hopefully we stay above 900K!

A new 1.8-mi section of LITTLE SUGAR CREEK GREENWAY is NOW OPEN! The trail from I-485 to Polk Historic Site is 12’ wide, all paved, ADA accessible, with bridges and boardwalks. Restrooms are available during museum hours at the Polk site. Parking is available dawn to dusk.
FINALLY. Have been waiting to use the new section (and had actually snuck onto a little bit of it a few times...I know I'm not alone in this)

Cool look at imaginations of what Berlin will look like in 50 years. I'm sure it (and Charlotte) will both be nearly unrecognizable.

This happened with my parents. 2/3 kids ended up living in Charlotte, and this past year they finally pulled the trigger and moved to Matthews from Michigan.

Unfortunately saw a motorbike (one of the types that rides in big groups around town without any mufflers and doing wheelies) rider try to use the Streetcar lane today to pass someone. His wheel got stuck in the track and he wiped out. Fortunately he was wearing a helmet and EMS was there within 5 mins, but scary to watch in person.

Very random request, but does anyone know of any Albanian-American groups, clubs, organizations, restaurants, or events in the region? Feel free to shoot me a PM.
Edit: It's not for myself, but for someone I know that I want to convince to move here.

I'm not sure I should be putting this under Good New Restaurants, but has anyone else been to Alchemy? We went last night and I was disappointed. The vegan charcuterie board was good, but it was all downhill from there. We got also got the Avocado Hummus, which was pretty much flavorless and the Mushroom Trip to share. I didn't know exactly what to expect from the Mushroom Trip, but it wasn't what I thought it would be. A kind of mushroom version of a polenta cake topped with what appeared to be mashed potatoes but weren't, and oddly difficult to cut through. I got the Lion's Mane mushroom fettuccine entree (not shown on the online menu for some reason) and the flavor - I can't even put my finger on what seasoning it was - was so unpleasant it was inedible. Even the mushroom (and I've never met a mushroom I didn't like) was fried but overly wet at the same time. Very off-putting. We also got the S'mores dessert and the presentation is very cool. A clump of ground charcoal covered in Everclear and lit at the table. It's served with a large marshmallow and two big doughnut holes that you cut and smush your toasted marshmallow between, but even the doughnuts tasted stale.
The place is nicely decorated and you meet the hostess at the front of a large and sparsely appointed art gallery before walking 30' to the restaurant entrance beyond, which is something different. I'm not trying to beat the place up, really. Just giving my honest opinion. Curious if anyone else has been and what they thought.
I enjoyed my meal when I went there for my GF's birthday - but I definitely had the chicken version of one of their dishes. I can't speak to the vegan menu there.

Serious question. Why are there so many Melo Ball fanboys in the comment sections of every Hornets related post? I'll take all the extra fans as we can get, but his fans/followers just make me chuckle. He is playing well though and if he keeps it up, may take a starting position sooner than later. Still need a real center tho that's not named Cody or Biz.
The power of social media I suppose. I agree, it gets a bit crazy but I like Charlotte getting the extra attention as a small-market team.
Also youngest player to have a Triple Double in NBA history last night!

Thoughts on Hayward? I really like him and hope he does well, but paying $39M/year (when you include the waiving of Batum's contract) is a LOT.

Great historical renovation to take place in Detroit. I only wished I had gone by this beautiful train station when I last visited the Motor city years ago. I have only seen it modeled at the Biltmore Estate. see photos below.
https://www.cpexecutive.com/post/ford-unveils-plans-for-30-acre-detroit-redevelopment/
what a great project!
As someone with deep Michigan roots, I am very happy to see this. Parts of Detroit have definitely rebounded and are doing immensely better, but it will take generations to recover from the mass de-industrialization and white-flight that took place from 1960-2010.
Detroit peaked at 1.85M residents around 1950 in only half the sq. miles as Charlotte. It was 4x as dense as modern day Charlotte back then. Imagine if Charlotte lost 2/3 of it's population and how empty it would feel....truly a tragedy

In most historically English-speaking regions with a large mining industry you'll often find traces of Cornish immigration and influence. Cornwall mined tin for over 4000 years and locals developed quite the reputation for their expertise of extracting tin, copper, and other semi-precious metals out of the ground.
The closest place that has (good) fresh pasties in the US is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. A large Cornish community moved to the UP (Michigan's UP, not this website) for the Iron/Copper mining up that way in the late 1800's / early 1900's. The Finns who also immigrated to the region adopted pasties into their cuisine as well. As a half-Finn / half-Cornishman myself, the cultural fusion is fascinating. Just make sure to ask for "Swede" instead of "Rutabaga" if ordering one in Cornwall.
