  1. But in Grand Rapids on the 2 lane freeways it's jammed up and not moving at all whereas the three lane 131 moves much smoother, even tho it's one of the busiest in the state, the fact that it's very straight and has three lanes and no left exits helps a lot but for what ur describing id recommend instead of 6 to have 2 each way in the middle as express that bypass the exits, maybe till those. Then have four each way as regulars with an HOV lane, that might help, or there could b reversible tolls in the middle like 3 lanes there that reverse, then 3 each way regular, but if u feel it's unnecessary then they prob r really good with planning ahead except they maybe didn't think of a modern design and they just made it wide to prepare.
  2. Well the airport is breaking records every year and they r doing a lot of big expansions so they will probably always b doing stuff to expand it and make it better.
  3. Actually 131 is to 76th st and rivertown parkway is 3 lanes as well as 31 in holland. There are plenty of small cities with wide freeways and large cities with narrow ones and medium cities with both. Also speeds r slower in higher traffic areas for safety. That's cuz the roads r old and outdated and were designed for the traffic 50 years ago and not for anything nearly as heavy as it is today.
  4. They do solve problems, they increase capacity and safety as well as modern interchanges and other. However there is a limit when adding more won't do any good where it would b best to either create more freeways and or create toll lanes.
  5. Woodland does have probably the best benefits because they r a larger enclosed mall with a lot of upscale suburbs nearby that people come from. However Breton village and knapps crossing r smaller lifestyle centers so they won't be trying to lure as many in, also they have a much higher income with neighborhoods nearby, whereas woodland is a mall that people come from far away to go to. They should just put in way in the back by the goodwill, then it would be in GR township too.
  6. This sounds like florida, they are very good with planning and everything, you name it. Someone needs to knock some sense into the people doing it here.
  7. Yes I know, there's so many things that need to be done. The size of the city doesn't have much to do with a lot of the things u mentioned cuz I've seen a ton of cities the size of like traverse city or something that have freeways prepared for the traffic and like more gates and destinations at the airport and stuff. I think it's something with the state like they r in a mess or something. Because there is a lot of stuff that should have been done here years ago but somebody isn't thinking clearly and planning stuff like other states have been. However a lot of things have made progress, like the airport has a lot more flights being added and is undergoing all these expansions so it will be a lot nicer than most airports, also every year there's a bunch of new stores and restaurants, and there's a lot of nice centers expanding and remodeling a lot, like woodland and Breton village. And there's plans for a soccer stadium and team, and more convention space, and taller and more buildings, but the main thing I haven't seen a lot of progress on is the road widening.
  8. I've never heard of a metro area of over 1m considered small ....... also Holland is part of that metro. And there's a lot of airports without direct access.
