Maybe we get thousands of people to start tagging @JeffBezos on Twitter and Instagram relating to every cool thing we do in our daily lives around West Michigan?? #GramazonRapids?

Sounds like the Sperry's Moviehouse project in downtown Holland is still on track to beat the one in GR Updated plans here:

Love that building. Was always hoping it would get re-developed. I really wish the new brewery would have gone in there.
However, the Edgewater condos may never had been finished if the brewery went in here as I believe it is the same investors. Maybe someone needs to open a competing Iron Works Brewing Company
And speaking of North Channel Brewing, the renovated space is looking great from what I see online!

This building is begging for some awesome redevelopment. Located in a historic downtown, and is even waterfront property. Too bad they didn’t use it for the Little River Casino when that was built 18 years ago. Could have been part of a waterfront resort development… The Downtown Market in a space like this would have been pretty cool.

My hope is that this and the redone homes to the east of it start to increase value and safety to the area. As it stands now, this is a pretty rough area.
An added bonus to these is that Central Ave. is part of the snowmelt system now!

A few new construction "small" houses just hit the market this week in downtown Holland for $110k. 488 sq. ft, 1 bed, 1 bath. Would this ever fly in GR?

Man that is a nice looking rendering. Varied and interesting, but keeping with elements of classic design. Excited to see what downtown Holland looks like in a few years.
Speaking of nice looking renderings. Discovered this updated hotel/conference center rendering the other day. Kind of an over the top eccentric design, but I kind of like it.
It's the one being proposed way up the lakeshore, in Arcadia. http://www.townshipofarcadia.org/swan-resort.html

I meant the Knickerbocker and Park Theaters.
I wouldn't call either of these a movie theater. Although yes, the Knickerbocker does show some indie and classic films.

The one on the north side is junk. I have never watched a more grainy movie in my life as the one I watched there a few months ago.
They just finished up overhauling the Star Theater, which is now just branded as AMC. Haven't been yet, but it looks like it is much improved. Holland 7 on the south side went through a major renovation recently as well.

This guy gets it
“We really saw the need for parking in this block,” said Chuck Geenan, co-owner of GDK. “For development to happen downtown and continue to add retail and residential, you need to have parking.”

Seems to be a slow news day. So I thought we'd take a trip back up the Lakeshore for some new developments to look at. Proposed waterfront hotel and restaurant in the sleepy town of Arcadia. I'm sure a result of Arcadia Bluffs investing in building their second golf course just south of town on M22.

Now if only Cherry Republic and Cousin Jenny's will come over here from Traverse City to join Honest Eyes and Georgina's too!
Cherry Republic just opened a store in downtown Holland last week. Just in time for Tulip Time, or maybe Stem Fest...depending on the weather.

I saw in the last Zeeland City Council meeting they are discussing improving the Main St./BL196/M121 interchange in the near future. Anyone want to play armchair urban planner and propose how this monstrosity of an intersection could be improved? Roundabout(s), elongated roundabouts, tunnels?!?!, convert to all bike lanes???
From meeting minutes:
Continue discussions with MDOT regarding potential project. Meet with MDOT and the Ottawa County Road Commission to develop a plan to make this entrance into Zeeland safer and more efficient than it is today. Target is to have agreed upon concept by July 1, 2021. Improve the safety and efficiency for vehicle and pedestrian traffic at one of the primary entrances to the city.

Heck, the city should just give them the 201 Market property. Maybe get the Charley's Crab/Parking area to sell as well. Adjacent breweries/restaurants/nightlife/universities/entertainment/freeway. Show them the Whitewater plans. I think that spot would be the only one with a chance at this... Meeting the transit needs, plus the "cool" area factor to retain talent.
