  1. So they opened the expansion of the union deck for cars, but the new elevator has not been installed, and there is a precarious 5 floor drop that is moderately exposed. Not to mention the uninstalled glass.
  2. Here's an updated picture of the new hotel from the chancellor's website: https://chancellor.uncc.edu/office-chancellor/public-communications/spring-2018-newsletter/article/facilities-updates (I can't find a larger image file)
  3. Reposting in this thread for webcam link. This is for the new Admissions and Visitors Center at UNCC. It's located by the main entrance and the South Village dorms.
  4. I agree, UNCC should have some very basic living spaces that can hold a lot of students. The main reason I go to UNCC is how close my family is to campus, a 20 minute commute. This was WAY cheaper (like $3,000 per semester) than trying to afford dorms like Belk or Miltmore. I would have lived on campus and gotten the "college experience" if this were the case. We need something like Sullivan Hall at NC State. Alas, most of my memories are trying not to get run over in Lot 6...
  5. Webcam for the new Admissions and Visitors Center capitalconstructionplan.uncc.edu/list-projects-and-schedules ***MOORE AND SANFORD HALLS ARE SLATED FOR DEMOLITION*** The University decided it would be cost effective to just demolish the older buildings and build one new larger dorm. It's a shame because you can see them as you walk out of the Student Union. (As for the library presentation, I'm still trying to find out if I can distribute it or not.)
  6. Special collections are being moved to the first and second floors, mostly where the career center and first floor checkout desk is at the moment. A lot of the changes are adding in seating in the tower, adding study rooms on the second and third floors, and putting a large conference area/ lounge on the tenth floor. I do agree that there needs to be more space, however, I think if anything should be moved it should be the career center. This is all a plan that hasn’t been approved yet, but given to the administration for consideration.
  7. I have some news about Atkins library, they are in the planning stages of changing the entire structure. The plan calls for the removal of 75% of the books and to put them offsite. Other changes are to make the library more like a socialization area. I could probably get the PowerPoint about it, but no guarantee.
  8. There's an app that you can download called "UNCC NextRide," and you can track where all of the buses are in real time! But in my experience over the past few years, its usually a 15 minute wait between buses.
  9. Any idea why these trains go so slow? Maybe there are too many stops in areas with heavy vehicle traffic?
  10. Here are webcams for construction on campus.
  11. I don't think they will untill around 2020, when the alignment of the east campus roads are complete. Although, it might be used as a staging area for construction materials, as there is a lay down area near CAB for the Belk Plaza supplies.
  12. New project was just announced through Niner Times, article written by Jacob Baum: (basically redesigning the campus east of the botanical gardens and Bonnie Cone's grave)
  13. To add on to the previous post, here are other webcams on UNC Charlotte's campus: -The new PATS building -The Belk Plaza redesign (and the Denny-Macy-Barnard-Garinger-Winningham quad) -Another angle for the Recreation Center These aren't mouth watering projects, but they are important for the future development of the campus.
  14. Here is a well produced video showcasing the progress of the new University Recreation Center. You can also see the progress on the Union Deck.
  15. Not sure if anyone else posted this, but you can start to see it poking above the stands at certain angles.
  16. The new PATS building has gone up fast, compare the picture from Saturday with the picture from Wednesday (yesterday). Saturday: Wednesday: Not much has changed with regards to the other new buildings. The Denny revamps are going well, with Denny having furniture delivered and the other two look to be on schedule. I’ll get pictures of those once the semester is over, which is not soon enough tbh.
  17. A few new pics snapped a few minutes ago of the deck expansion and the new wellness center. As you can see, some of the foundation is poured and what I assume is a retaining wall is being poured. The elevation change between the Union and the site has a large drop. The first two floors of the Union deck are poured, the beginning of the third is starting. I didn’t park in North Deck today so I’ll update on that project later. In other news, since I have a class in Denny next semester, so I’ll try to take some pictures of the revamp (including the other two buildings as well).
  18. Here are some updates on the new health center and the new crane being used for the Union parking deck. The deck is on the second floor, still. The slowdown last week was probably due to building the crane, which is so large it reaches all the way to Lynch Hall.
  19. Today during homecoming, someone flew a plane with "FIRE JUDY ROSE! HELP WANTED NEW A.D. NEEDED!" on a banner. I agree with this tbh, considering football being 0-6 and the basketball team going falling in quality.
  20. New crane going up for the new Union deck, and the ground has been leveled for the new PATS facility. I’ll get more pictures for the new health center when I go up to the Union for lunch.
  21. True, they’re even copying the entrance to the union, with those columns.
  22. Today I was handed a flier about naming the new heath center by the union. I’m not sure if anyone has posted a picture of what the building will look like yet, but I don’t blame them, it looks exactly like CHHS, COED, etc. it does give information about what will be inside though, which is interesting. Here’s what will be contained within: -An indoor pool -An outdoor pool -4 multi-purpose courts -Multi-purpose fitness studio -Cycling studio -An elevated walking/running track (indoors) -30,000 sq ft of cardio and strength training equipment -Demo kitchen No why the university would distribute this information physically by the library and not through email is intriguing. Since the voting is online, it’s a wonder they didn’t just send a campus wide email with a link. Although, they are pretty bad at getting people to voluntarily do something...
  23. Today there was a day test of the tracks by UNCC. Hopefully they can move quickly to finish the line.
  24. I think they are changing out the HVAC in Burson, which is a good first step for the building. I feel as though they need to change out some of the interior doors and desks in the lecture halls. In addition, they need to get rid of the carpeting on the benches (one of which was on fire a few years ago when I was in a Gen Ed chemistry course).
  25. I’m hoping they’ll do Burson as soon as they finish the new science building. Also, they really need to figure out the sidewalks. Every time there’s a large amount of rain the bricks start to warp, especially around Kennedy.
