  1. Wow! First Lucky's and now Earth Fare!? The two new ones in the SODO have only been opened a few months. Crazy! Very disconcerting. What's going on?
  2. Yep, now hearing that Blurock reps will be meeting with homeowners in this neighborhood soon to discuss plans for redevelopment along Orange between Jennie Jewel and Highway place (neighborhood next to The Mark at SODO complex, FKA Holly Garden Apts) and back into the neighborhood three blocks deep. Preliminarily, word is they are looking at new commercial along Orange, apartments along Magnolia and Townhouses along Rosalind (not to be confused with the Rosalind and Magnolia Avenues downtown mind you). There are still quite a few single family residences in that span that would be affected. I presume they are planning to purchase them, but I'm anxious to see what their plans are at this meeting.
  3. Thanks! I figured they were a realtor/developer. They are sure doing a lot in our neck of the woods. I looked on the property appraiser's site and saw that one large lot a couple blocks off of Orange was owned by Blurock, but nothing else. Have you seen/heard that they are buying more than that? The one parcel is a large lot, maybe an acre or two in size currently occupied by a 1920's home that is currently being used as a rental. Thanks again for the info.
  4. I'm very curious about this as it is very close to my home. What is 'Blurock'? ( I googled but didn't get a clear answer) Also how did you get this info? Thanks!!
  5. So...I'm guessing this project is dead? Anybody hear anything?
  6. Agreed. I'm probably just being a little selfish, but you don't get the whole picture just driving by. My neighborhood backs up to them, there is only one house between me and them and the sounds that come from there sometimes can be annoying at best and disturbing/frightening at worst. I do get it about the urban fabric, as we are just outside of it. These apartments are within the city limits, the property line, between our neighborhood and Holly Gardens is also the city limits, so its close.
  7. Uggh. sure would've been nice to be 36 stories. That would have put it in the range of the tallest buildings, just a dozen or so below Suntrust, right?
  8. Agreed. It would be really nice to see these bulldozed and something nice put in its place. Hopefully its getting some looks. Yes the same ones. And yes there are a few things between the two but I'm not sure the point. There are some decent business between the two but it doesn't have to all be adjacent does it? I would just love to see the 16 acres become something that adds to the community rather than what it does now. I know those people need to live somewhere but it doesn't have to be there in those nasty apartments.
  9. Any speculation about anything happening with Holley Garden Apartments on South Orange? I live near there and would dearly love to see those get bulldozed and a continuation of the type of development happening on Pineloch/Orange just north of there. There was neighborhood rumors about it being purchase or being turned over to the Feds (HUD). This complex is currently a blight on our community.
  10. Why does the subject heading for this thread mention 36 story tower? It looks like it will only be 23, correct?
  11. What's happened to this project? Has it died? Its been nearly one year since any posts. Sorry if I've been under a rock. Just signed up to this site yesterday.
