  1. We still have too many redneck goobers in the state to get rid of the idiots in charge. Thank God though the rural parts are dying out and the cities are growing. Their day of rule is slowly coming to an end.
  2. That is great news!!! My one concern is I hope Conformity keeps a pharmacy/drugstore/small grocer in one of the spaces. As a resident of the hood, being able to walk to Dollar General has been clutch and a great reason to live in the hood. I'm just hoping to be able to still walk over and grab trash bags, etc in the future. Other than that I don't think I could be happier about who purchased the center. That center has such great potential. Does that include the Starbucks/Crisp building too?
  3. So clutch for the hood. Charlotte needs more liquor stores, the ABC structure is so lame. No reason the state needs to be involved with it. In fact, I'd argue it is rather Unrepublican/free market to have the state involved, yet not a peep from Pat and the rest of his fellow republicans.
  4. Typical Charlotte, set a plan for the Rail Trail and continue to let developers build giant parking decks along it. That shouldn't be allowed with the implemented Rail Trail Plan.
  5. I know for a fact, they looked at the church site at the corner of Hawthorne & Central but ultimately thought the logistics weren't there. I have no idea if they're continuing to look in Plaza. I personally don't want them in the hood, as I have no doubt it will be suburban in construction with a giant parking lot.
  6. Just hoping, I have no Knowledge.
  7. *Phase 2 of the Goldline Completion *ABC Store in the CBD *Improve the current Zoning plan *Implement a light rail line to Matthews
  8. Former Citizen Looking Back - We need to increase the walkability of the neighborhood. We 'ALREADY' offer direct transit to the CBD by Rail and Bus. The second talking point, I believe is the city needs to implement some standard of development, the current laws allow for too much leeway. You should have to incorporate ground floor retail and have a minimum threshold of quality in build out to be built.
  9. An amazing project for the city, game changed to have a complete grocer. However, I'm sad with the city not pushing to implement some kind of plan to address the fact that Stonewall as currently constructed isn't walker friendly, with fat lanes and too fast of speeds for a pedestrian street. Clearly, a walking district is beginning to emerge and we need a plan to make this an walking district.
  10. I stil think as a 40 something for the CBD to head towards a contain zone where one doesn't have to leave the CBD, the city needs an ABC Store. I personally have self-imposed the 400 S. Tryon up fit as that spot. My selling point would be with the amount of people that live uptown it more than warrants a "liquor store". Secondly, with the amount of apartments about to come online and Rhino Market it all but makes sense for the ABC to allow a store. Finally, if Elkin, NC can support a ABC store, I think a population of 12-15,000 full-time residences and a day-time population reaching a 100,000 one can support a liquor store.
  11. This neighborhood next to NoDa has the best bones to build an urban neighborhood experience outside of the CBD. I really hope the city can figure out the bids for the streetcar, because with that and some discretionary implementation of the overlay district this could be a great infill neighborhood. I'm a native looking from afar but I was very sad to see the stick-builts hit Midwood.
  12. I'm surprised I'm the one to mention the bike barrier article from the Observer, but it seems to be a hit for people!!! Im personally scared of car traffic, so the barrier would definitely increase my chances of biking uptown/Charlotte. I think the lane would add another great alternative to reaching uptown without a car.
  13. Idea: I think the 400 South Tyron Parking lot upfit would make for the perfect ABC Store location that the CBD has been lacking, especially with its location next door to a Rhino Market.
  14. Love it Ricky! Just what we need, and also incorporates the building.
