  1. Not sure which thread to post this in and I am sorry if this is a repost, but I wanted to mention that Baxter's (sports bar) is now open.
  2. That lot is tiny. They would certainly have to acquire adjacent properties to do anything near the size of Harbors Edge. Tabb's is a good place to eat though.
  3. Don't forget that Donald Trump is at least somewhat familiar with the area, he once owned The Hague Towers in Norfolk.
  4. Warner budget to include $625 million extra for transportation Warner proposes $143 million for other high-priority federal-state projects, which includes: -$36 million for the Highway 460 Coalfields Connector; -$30 million for the Interstate 264-64 interchange in Norfolk; -$20 million for Metrorail rail car storage; -$16 million to widen part of I-66 westbound inside the Capital Beltway in northern Virginia; -$15 for additional capacity to the commuter train service that links Washington, D.C., and its outlying suburbs; and -$10 million statewide for new buses. Does anyone have any info on the 264-64 interchange? I have not seen any plans for this interchange and I even gave vdot's website a quick look.

    Norfolk Pictures

Great bird's eye view pictures can be seen at http://local.live.com/ Attached are a few screenshots.
  6. Sorry for the post lacking in substantive content, but, lil-bear, I totally agree.
  7. Check out the image on the norfolk development website with all of the tower cranes.
  8. The best part is that the marina is being paid for with federal money.
  9. Some of the tracks are still around actually. They are just paved over. There are tracks barely two inches below the surface of Granby Street downtown.
  10. Moe's Southwest Grill has locations in Hampton Roads and Richmond. Chipotle has not arrived in HR, but does have a presence in Richmond. Baja Fresh has not yet arrived in HR or Richmond. All three, of course, have locations in NOVA.
  11. I imagine it is more expensive (although I haven't seen the proof) but wouldn't the advantages be worth it? It just seems that the added headache of waiting for trains when driving around the cities will create more traffic problems than they fix.
  12. Am I the only one who thinks that an elevated MONORAIL is the best solution? Pros: Much Faster Speeds Safer (goes OVER roads, not through) Relieves congestion (doesn't stop traffic at ground level; imagine a train shutting down Newtown, Independence, Witchduck, Rosemont, etc. every 15 minutes) More appealing to the eye (subjective) Requires less right of way Can be built off-site and installed
  13. I run by the cruise terminal construction site about 4 times a week. They are moving VERY slowly on this project. Even when they are out there working it only seems like there is a handful of men on the job.
  14. OT: Is there a reason we can't PM (private message) people on this board? I tried to PM vdogg and I got an error. vdogg: I was going to PM you and ask if you could point me to a decent picture of the 'new' Decker building that I could use for my avatar. I have searched and cannot find an image. Also: The Decker law firm name is now up on the two story portion of the Towne Bank Building. It is gold lettering and faces the waterside/spirit of norfolk docking area.
